Receive an iPad mini for Christmas. Our iPhones and Mac are under my husbands email and itune acct. so it’s husband@gmail and wife@gmail. Since the phones have different numbers everything has worked fine with updates etc. now I need to "move ?? My phone cloud to my mini but don’t know how. H thinks he can unlink my phone to his and the have me get a new acct. or maybe I need a new acct and another email??
Anyone understand or have suggestions. Thanks.

Both my iphone and ipad mini are on the same yahoo email account and have the same password. Haven’t had any problems except in trying to use the find my iphone and ipad app.

Are you only adding the iPad, or do you also want to change an iPhone?

Want to add iPad. Already have iphone but because I am rather limited in computer abilities I think I’ve always been like a second acct to husband. Thx

One thing u need to do when adding a new iPhone,iPad to avoid getting each other’s messages is to go to settings, messages, send and receive and then make sure only your phone # and email are checked. If u don’t use iCloud, turn it off on your iPad (leave husbands) on otherwise u will get each others contacts, photos, etc. if these don’t work then I think u will have to set up a new account.

It sounds like you must decide if you (1) want to keep using your common data (in husband’s account) or (2) start building up and using your own data.

Just log in the new iPad onto your husband’s iCloud account; his (your common) data will be downloaded onto the iPad (you can have any number of devices linked to an iCloud account). Add wife@gmail as an email account on the iPad.

Create your own iCloud account on the iPad. Logout your iPhone from your husband’s iCloud account (all iCloud data will be removed from the iPhone); login in with your new iCloud account. You’ll have to enter all your own, e.g., contact info. Add wife@gmail as an email account on the iPad.

1 is easy but you’ll forever share data. 2 is (lots?) more work but you’ll be independent.
