Is a 2270 SAT good enough?

Can a 2270 (Math=800, C.R.=730, Writing=740) do the job? I know you have to have the whole package, so I guess that I am asking, will a 2270 keep me out?

I hope not, because I have a 2270 too (CR=800, Math=720, Writing=750). I think 2250 is the min. for serious consideration, but that’s not an official number, but one concocted by the people here.

is this a joke or something? you people are so ridiculous

I’m an EA deferree with a 2280 (800 CR, 800 W, 680 M), so although I can’t tell you I got in with my scores (ahhh only 11 days!!!) they were apparently good enough to merit a deferral at least. I wouldn’t worry about a 2270, as long as you’re in the general ballpark on test scores and have good grades etc it won’t be an automatic disqualifier. In fact your scores are probably stronger than mine since they’re all in the 700s. I’m just a lopsided freak.

Ok, Kcirsch, no need to put us down for worrying. I worry about my 2270 too because my 800 is in Writing, and I’m afraid colleges won’t think it matters since it’s a new test.

I worry for the same reason, calicollegegirl. I’m also paranoid that the huge difference between my math score and my verbal scores will set off all kinds of red flags.

Hey, lopsided freaks are cool. I’m a lopsided freak too, though it’s more that I’m lopsided on different areas on different days. Yesterday: totally Englishy person (I was doing Physics work). Today, Physics person (I have an English paper to do). It’s the most unfortunate combination of lopsidedness.

i was deferred with 2280…

780 math, 750 verbal, 750 writing…

your scores are definitely high enough to keep you in the pool

haha tkm, I know exactly what you mean. I’m an english person and I’ve been procrastinating this research paper like no other. I’m actually considering doing my math homework instead. I should probably add that I’ve put off my math homework for the past month…

YOU NEED AT LEAST 2390. 2400 is recommended.

I think that’s plenty good enough…look at the acceptances in the EA thread. People with lower and higher (and similar) scores were accepted. I was deferred with a 2330. I think most Yale applicants have good SAT scores, so they probably weigh ECs, essays, recommendations, awards, etc much more once you’ve made the initial “cut.” I wish us all the best of luck!

i have a 2270 as well… 800-CR, 700-M, 770- W

eek… i was pretty confident with my score… but now im not as confident cuz i see people worrying… lol…

We’re all doomed! Doomed! Stupid College Board…did you hear about that discrepency in the scores where people got like 200 points less than they were supposed to because the answer sheets got wet? And is anyone in here Physics C this year? What a gyp. We have to pay for two halves of the test…which is essentially charging a double fee because no one just takes Mechanics or Electromagnetics. Scum. I wonder if anyone’s tried to bomb them before.

im in physics c, but we can sign up for mech or e&m. most just sign up for mech tho

I wonder if I’ll get a break because my writing section is weak. I can write- 5 on the ap and all, but for some reason I’m just no good at grammar…

My 1550 on the old looks a helluvalot better than a 2220, but I think that they’ll get I can write when they read my essays…

Who knows.

I think they’re taking the writing test with a grain of salt since it’s the first year it’s being administered. unfortunately for me…

well, the writing section of the sat has been existing as sat ii: writing during the days of teh old sat, which most selective colleges required anyway as an sat ii for admission. so i dont think colleges will overlook the writing section of the sat that much… just my opinion

LOL! I was deferred with a 2250.

The first time I took the new SAT I, writing was my lowest section. The second time, it was my highest.

Anyone that has an SAT below 2400 will eventually be rejected. Sorry.
