<p>Adventures cross-country is a program that takes kids to different places either for community service, as a leadership program, or just for fun.
So for those who’ve been in this program: was it worth the money?</p>
<p>and also: my parents wanted to know if doing community service in other countries (through this program) would help me in my college application</p>
<p>I think it’s more valuable to organize and take such trips on your own. That’s half the learning experience. You might have to tone down the ambitiousness of such a trip since you’re still in high school, but you could still do something really great. Find an issue you care about in a place you’ve never been and go for it.</p>
<p>A ton of people do international community service through mission work or trips with organizations like these. It would never hurt your application, but it’s not particularly unique, so keep that in mind. But who cares about college apps?</p>
