April has been pacing non-stop for a while now…
For some reason they let Oliver in with her, and are having a hard time getting him to come out.

^ she keeps poking up at the platform area.
Maybe people are up there.
Does anyone know if they ever report about the baby’s heartbeat, or ultrasound test results or anything about the health status of the baby?
She seems so out of sorts with all that pacing – she hasn’t stood still for a minute which is very different from her usual relaxed meandering around the pen. Would not be surprised if we something in the next 24 hours. Or perhaps she is in pain?
Somewhere on the Animal Adventure Park Facebook page is a video interview with Dr. Tim, April’s veterinarian. He has tried to get her used to his hand held ultrasound over the last few months but hasn’t been successful. I believe they monitor the baby by watching and feeling it’s movements every day during April’s visits by the keepers and the vet. Don’t forget, April is a big girl, there’s not much she’s going to be coaxed into if she’s not feelin’ it… ![]()
The park folks have said in interviews that a giraffe’s skin is too thick for an ultrasound to give a good result.
LOL the vet showed a golden egg coming from April’s behind!
There must be something newly installed on the platform because she keeps looking in the area- just what an overdue mother needs - More Stress
GADS!!! just want her to deliver. If it is this weekend it should be named Peter or Hoppy.
April’s in labor! It started about a half hour ago. Hooves are out!
I see them!
Does anyone know how long this should take?? An hour? 24 hours?
30-60minutes
Calf walking about 30 minutes after birrh
That’s pretty darn fast – for the birth, I mean. (But of course for walking, too.)
Delivery is faster in the wild 15-30 minutes
It’s funny – the little hooves are wiggling, and she keeps licking them. I sure wouldn’t want to be walking around with something like that sticking out of me!
My completely sleepless night had a purpose after all
The Facebook page for Animal Adventure Park is broadcasting on Facebook Live right now, too. It’s a different camera view – eye level from just outside the pen.
Let this go well, here comes baby …finally.
Hooves out!!!
I was beginning to wonder if she was really pregnant…excited for everyone. Nice to think of all the smiles this morning - It seems like more people all over the world are excited about April’s pending delivery than Charles & Dianna’s wedding.
