After submitting the application on May 13th, I got the confirmation email on May 21st. (answering that question)
I also might have made a big mistake. I had assumed that this program would specialize around all fields of physical and natural sciences, but it seems like the program is more specific to life sciences. I had written my entire application about Particle Physics/High Energy Physics. Am I fine with the specifications or will I get auto-reject?
To add on, also double check your payment to see if the formatting is correct.
That does sound sketchy. I’d definitely be cautious, especially with the discrepancies in the application fee and the lack of info on the Harvard journal. Maybe try reaching out to some past participants or do some more digging online?
Its a newer program- I think its only been running for around a year. Finding past participants might be difficult
I completely trust it. Harvard doesn’t lend out their name easily, and the people running it aren’t making any profits besides the application fee (which is needed for lab supplies etc). Additionally, I went to an in-person conference for OpenBio around a month ago and everyone there was legit.
I think you should be good as long as your application shows you are dedicated and capable. I remember on the page it said life and physical sciences, though I agree it’s definitely more life-science based.
Hey! thanks so much for responding. I checked my payment and the formatting and amount is correct. Since you received your confirmation email 8 days after submitting, I guess I will just wait for mine.
Thanks for this information though it calmed me down a bit
Will the application results come out before May 26th or will the application results come out on May 26th alone.
Please update when admissions release!

Where did you get this information?
They changed the date. I think they got too much applications this year
Did everyone get the update email from openbio
It’s on their website and they sent out emails too
I like the new change for their symposium
Wait I don’t need to do anything if I don’t want to withdraw right
We leave it as it is. To withdraw you fill out the google form
Ok that’s awesome to know, ty!
Just checked it and can confirm all info here. Best of luck to everyone!
Would like to add that they removed the percent of admitted students note (unless i missed something) and added that 70 students will be accepted
Full virtual now btw!
Theres a form released for withdrawaling applications, and they will refund the application fee
