Is it bad to self study APs?

I’m a junior and I’ve been wanting to self study AP psychology. I’m super interested in science, especially things biology/chemistry related. I’m currently taking Bio and Chem at school, but we don’t offer psychology. I also show my passion in science through my ec’s like Science Bowl, Science Olympiad, USABO, and an internship/research paper. Given this, would self studying for AP psych still make me look like a “bragger” and “test taker” to colleges? I honestly just want to demonstrate my love for science.

No, but it wouldn’t really demonstrate a love for science, it would just show you’re good at taking tests. Could you take a college course in psych locally either through a community college or a 4 year school? A summer program in science classes? Those would be much more beneficial to you and demonstrate your interest more than a self studied AP

ohh thank you for the advice! I’ll ask my counselor if I can do concurrent enrollment at a state university nearby instead.
