I watch mainly kids shows like iCarly and Big Time Rush on Nickelodion. I also especially love Avatar The Last Airbender though Nickelodion doesn’t show them anymore (I watch Avatar The Last Airbender online sometimes). But sometimes, I watch George Lopez, Everybody Hates Chris, and Family Matters on Nick at Nite. Rarely, I watch Family Guy, although I gotta admit one of the chicken fights was pretty funny.

My girlfriend also watches iCarly and other Nickelodion shows, but she also loves Jersey Shore (and she’s 18 yrs old). In fact, her cousins and family all love it, while my family and my cousins don’t watch that show (or maybe don’t watch TV at all). I tried to watch an episode of Jersey Shore online one time but stopped after 2 minutes into the show because everyone curses every couple of seconds.

My question is it okay for me (19 yrs old) at this age to still watch kids shows? The reason why I do this is because I’m afraid of hearing bad words, like the S word and F word, even if its bleeped out. At least I don’t like hearing those words every few seconds. I just simply get offended by it. I also don’t like too much violence, and especially hearing about sex on TV.

Regarding swear words, you’re 19…grow the **** up.

Professors use them, it was common for me to hear them coming from every one of my high school teachers every class, and college students will be using them plenty. Are they brash and a poor way of expressing one’s self? Yes, but they are part of the world.

If you don’t like violence that might be understandable but “hearing about sex” on TV bothers you? You should probably seek some help from a counselor if these things really bother you. You sound like you may have been homeschooled and sheltered from the world your entire life. Its one thing to abstain from swearing and by all means good for you, but being offended every time you hear someone swear at the age of 19 is a problem.

The shows you watch, I personally don’t care one way or another, but I think some people will think you’re weird if you’re only watching the shows you list. Sure the occasional girl may watch iCarly and that may be normal but watching exclusively children’s programs is different.

The only thing I can tell you is sit through a couple seasons of Entourage, I’m sure you won’t encounter anything worse than what comes out of Ari’s mouth for a long time.

This has to be a joke post. You are used to hearing swear words everyday yet you can’t watch a tv show where people are swearing? How does this make sense to anyone?

I think you’d be okay watching those shows, but other people might start to think it’s weird when you won’t watch other shows. I know that swear words make you uncomfortable, but you’ll hear more swear words in the hallway than you would on TV so you’ll probably have to get used to them.

Yes but its stuff like Aladdin movies and pokemon, stuff we grew up with and nostalgia over is different than someone watching today’s kid programs.
