Hello CCers, I am new to this site and I have been in complete awe on people’s achievements and Extracurriculars ( Published articles on scientific journals 0_0). I am a Black African from Nigeria and I have decided to give myself a shot. My secondary years were not so amazing especially my 3 senior years because my father had cancer and passed away during my final year. I had good IGCSEs but nothing compared to anyone on here. It is equivalent to a 3.81 GPA. I am taking 5 extracurricular which I hope to be very involved in. My question is is it possible for me to increase my SAT score to 2300+ , straight As AS level and with fantastic ECs get into an Ivy league school in the next 1.5 years?

That is impossible to answer, Adefemi. There is no “formula” for getting into an Ivy League school - a lot of it is simply luck. You will be competing not against American students, but against top students from Nigeria and elsewhere in Africa. So the question is, how do you compare to the very best students in your country? If you really stand out among the best, you might have a shot at it. But remember, the Ivies attract tens of thousands of highly qualified applicants from around the world, and every Ivy League school is a “reach” (difficult to get into) for them.

I think it depends a lot on you. I don’t think it’s impossible to raise your SAT scores or grades (like I did!). Definitely give it a try, I would suggest. And you don’t need a lot of ECs to get into an Ivy; you just need to show passion for it.
