Is it too late to start self-studying?

I have a VERY VERY VERY incompetent Chemistry 1 HL teacher- and until next year when we get a better IB teacher for year 2, I’m on my own. Thus far, we have done zero labs and zero tests.
i looked at an AP chem syllabus, and we are WAY behind.

I only know basic chem from last year (chapters 1-3 Zumdahl) and I am currently on chapter 5. the only way, i guess, for me to gain some knowledge of advanced chem is to self-study AP Chemistry. I hear its hard but is it impossible to self-teach?

are there any lab manuals, prep books, or anything that would help?

Yeah. Search the CC forums for Oasis’s ultimate guide to self-studying. It should have been stickied in the AP forum long ago, but it wasn’t, so we have to spread the knowledge through word of mouth.

Use the class as a valuable study hall (for chem or whatever else) and self-study HL Chem at home … it’ll be tough, though. Chem isn’t exactly the easiest subject to study independently.

Get a tutor if you can. If not, definitely get prep books. Idk, AP prep books might work if you can’t find any IB ones.

Good luck!!!
