Is my academic advisor allowed to restrict the number of AP classes I take?

<p>I’m a sophomore in high school, and I’m trying to get into these classes:
AP Euro
AP Stat
AP Physics
AP Environmental</p>

<p>I’m worried my academic advisor will try to tell that she thinks I couldn’t handle this many as a sophomore (which I know I can), and won’t let me enroll. Is she allowed to do this?</p>

<p>Not to be an antagonist but yes, she can, and can how do you know you can handle four ap classes as a sophomore</p>

<p>It depends. If a counselor wants to restrict your course selection, but your parents override it, you can enroll in them.</p>

<p>It depends on her and school policy. Sometimes you can get this through the principle too.</p>

<p>Well, if school policy permits, she may restrict the amount of AP classes you sign up for. However, I do not believe that a school can forbid a student to self-study and independently register for an exam. </p>

<p>Personally, though, I feel that Physics and European History are two heavy classes. They provide more than enough material for a sophomore student - unless, of course, you exhibit a precociousness that clearly indicates you can handle more.</p>

<p>AP Stats and AP Environmental are jokes. You’re really taking 2 APs actually. However, for the Physics, I believe you should drop it this year and put it off for another year, or just drop Environmental to even it out. Physics is really difficult.</p>

<p>^Eh, Environmental is what I’d consider to be more of a social sciences course. I think Environmental + Physics is doable.</p>

<p>^ It’s a useless AP though. Better to drop it to focus on a far more important one; Env Sci can easily be self-studied later.</p>

<p>AP Physics is no problem for soph, it’s just like Algebra I and Geometry.</p>

<p>^Wrong, Physics is a hell of a lot more conceptual than math, if you can’t get your mind around the tons of concepts, you can’t solve the problems and you’re screwed</p>

<p>Better question, is this AP Physics B or AP Physic C?</p>

<p>Btw, I started self-studying for AP physics B soph year, and it was easy to me.</p>
