I’ve been a hardcore ska fan since 8th grade, especially Streetlight Manifesto (who is debatably punk), but I’ve just been really into ska since. The genre is amazing, and the people/bands associated with it just love life and having fun. The only thing that might kill ska is that a lot of it sounds the same.

My favorite is usually the last one I’ve listened to…haha, jk, but I love every song. If I had to pick 2 REALLY-favorites from all 3 albums:

Everything Goes Numb - Failing, Flailing and If And When We Rise Again
Keasbey Nights - On & On & On and Day In, Day Out
Somewhere in the Between - Down, Down, Down to Mephisto’s Cafe and We Will Fall Together (although WWFT is basically tied with One Foot… and Receiving End…)

And because I’m basically in love with Tomas Kalnoky, my favorite songs from his 15 year old band:
Happier Days, Keep it to Yourself, Supernothing, One Tin Soldier, Mrs. Butterworth
How about your favorites?

I’ve got a gun in my hand but the gun won’t ****. My finger’s on the trigger but the trigger seems locked. I can’t stop staring at the tick tock clock. And even if I could, I would never give up. With a vest on my chest, a bullet in my lung. I can’t believe I’m dying with my song unsung. If and when I die won’t you bury me alone cause I’ll never get to heaven if I’m singing this song. <- Amazing

And can’t forget:
“So I waited by the phone but the phone never rang. And I sang so loud so I wouldn’t hear the bang. When the phone never rang and I never got the call, **** IT, THANK YOU, I LOVE YOU ALL!” <- Equally amazing.

And I don’t know if you’ve heard A Better Place, A Better Time (it’s a pretty big song for them; very well liked so you may have), you’d probably like Failing, Flailing…they sound so similar.

Lol I’ll just paste my Facebook favorite bands:

Streetlight Manifesto, Planet Smashers, Less Than Jake, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Suicide Machines, Madness, Paul Simon, Weird Al, The Aquabats, Big D and the Kids Table, B.O.T.A.R., Rage Against the Machine, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Reel Big Fish, The Skatalites, Skankin’ Pickle, The Toasters, The Strokes, The Killers, The Specials, The Beatles, Save Ferris, Beastie Boys, The Clash, Ramones, Bruce Springsteen, Autopilot Off, Bomb the Music Industry!, NoFX, The Postal Service

I’ve been really into The Suicide Machines lately.

yeah I like a lot of those…i know most of them, but not all—haha sry to make u ask but not i have some bands i can look up and hopefully like.

to respond to your question: i don’t think ska is dying, it just won’t be 100% mainstream…although it obviously still has SOME popular success…just most bands won’t be super popular, but they can still be found

When I first saw this thread I thought it said “Is sky diving or are we keeping it alive?”. I thought it was kinda clever how “diving” sounded like “dying”, which would cause the nonsensical phrase “or are we keeping it alive” to make sense a little bit.

My inability to read correctly causes me to analyze too much so I can make sense of what I’m “reading”.

Ska needs to die. Sublime was/is awful and I will never get the obsession with them. Maybe my hatred for ska comes from my hatred for Sublime. Either way, I don’t like it.
