Is the new SAT harder than the old one??

so is it?? does it need extra preparation n stuff?
n wat kinda score is needed to got into American Universities…i know places like Harvard, Stanford etc need really really good scores so…??

one needs much more than even excellent scores to get into those univs…a 2400 SAT 1 and 3X 800 SAT 2 doesnt guarantee a place in harvard, stanford etc etc

its not harder… just different. i suppose it would be more difficult if english isnt your first language b/c they added an essay… but they also took off the analogies.
the math is a tad bit harder: more algebra II than before… but not bad
its a little longer, and obviously, out of 2400 pts as opposed to 1600… really it hasnt changed all that much… still the same basic idea, just with a few changes and an essay

The material isn’t harder, but the test certainly is, as you’re much more likely to get exhuasted due to the length. and it’s probably harder to multiple-choice guys that don’t do well on essays.

I think its much easier since the CR got a lot easier and the math is not that hard, and writing is easy. I believe the new SAT gets rid of taking 2 different test SAT I and SAT II writing

ya gettin into those is a long shot…
english isnt the problem math is…i studied there till the 8th grade…
i wanna get into Texas A n M or UTA and places like tat
n even if i do my undergrad in India…wud it b easy gettin into a college for postgraduation in the US…i know the answer is no but im still hopin
thanks a lot to every1 helpin me out on this i really appreciate it

well if ur good it is…its a piece of cake for some while it remains a dream for many…

wat course dyu want to pursue?

a 3 year undergraduation course here in india isnt recognised in the US…so keep that in mind…

Its more of an endurance test nowdays. It took all morning so it left you pretty buggered by the end of it :)

well personally verbal section is always a blunder for me and writing is astonishing life saver maths is eazy breezy

yes a 3 yr BS degree of india aint recognised …

but if you want to get into TAMU or UTA and have high grades and achievements , it shoudnt be that difficult… They are the schools which still follow the stats based approach and also to a gr8 extent defy hyperfocus on admission rates or sumthing…

SM

wow. What are the options for an Indian who wishes to do grad school in the US and undergrad in India? Doesnt the fact that the degree is not recognized pose an issue?

Well, I got into UT Austin with a 1890 SAT and Im from India too. And I heard that only 5% of OOS students get in to UT or something like that. So, your standardized test scores would obvioulsy not be the only criteria. The fact that the new SAT is soooo long can be quite tiring. I never wrote the old sat so I cant comment on that.

well actually i wanna get into a medical college…
its way faster here but its difficult to get into the really good ones without amazing grades…it takes 5 and a half yrs to get an MBBS degree
i heard tat u hv to write the MCAT or something like tat which needs a year to prepare for and is an 8 hr test…i din know tat some degrees arent recognised…

niyantha 1890 and u got in wow thats some consolation for me

med school is horribly difficult…

In wat way…academically or getting admitted or both?
i heard its cut up is like this…3 yrs of pre -med, 3 yrs of med, n 2 yrs of internship …hv ne idea?

yes its like that…

its not only hard academically but its really tough to get into as well…
