I was expecting to see Maddie from Dance Moms running around in her nude leotard and wig with Sia. I actually fell asleep last night before I saw everyone. In my defense Ive been traveling a lot and jet lagged and out of it. I don’t like Christina’s taste in singers and it seems the screamers come out more to audition when she judges.
As usual, I dozed off during the interminable commercials at some point last night, so I just rewatched it without them.
I actually thought that Adam had excellent song choices, which surprised me. I loved Joshua, and loved the song choice for him. (Unlike a lot of lesser contestants, he can play the guitar well without it taking away from his singing.) I also really like Deanna’s voice, and I’ve loved that song since I first heard it in O Brother Where Art Thou. The question is whether she can go on from there. I think Adam gave Nathan an opportunity to step up that he was unable to take. At some point you have to separate the sheep from the goats, and that song should have been within his capability if he’s going to go on. Tonya is great at what she does, and could sing the heck out of anything like that. The question is, can she broaden her range into something more commercial.
I also disagree with everyone else in that I love Kimberley, who is a tremendous performer. India is, of course, a great singer.
My picks from last night…Adam’s team, Josh, Deanna, and Tonya…Christina’s team, Kimberley, India, and Rob.
I hope to doG that we have seen the last of the rest of them.
I think that the overwhelming majority here and in the votes liked Kimberly. A few do not applaud the screaming and gratuitous high notes. India remains a judges’ favorites and is still among the best. This does not mean that they are immune to criticisms. I am not sure that the choice of the song and its execution matched the talent of India well. It might not have hurt her case as this level since there are truly poor performers on each team, but she might think twice about trying a song that requires a better control. If Christina continues to push a belter in her wheelhouse, India might be the butt of the joke.
Wrong choice, Blake!!!
Jonri, the choice was?
I’m not a fan of the hyper-emotional suffering female ballad genre. It reminds me of what I call the Suffering Women Book genre in fiction: Anita Shreve, et al. I hope Christina lets India play something other than Cio Cio San. Kimberley brings an edginess to everything already.
UMM…West Coast doesn’t mind? Blake saved Hannah. Audience saved Corey and Meaghan. Sarah and Brooke went home.
I usually am the first to say how much I hate the group singing. So far they’re actually pretty good. I have to hand it to Pharrell that he gives props, and standing ovations to other team singers.
Oh man. I had AI on and it is terrible. Been missing this!
Wait-- I am east coast and they are just announcing the saves…
No kidding. I can’t believe he didn’t save Sarah.
America saved the right people and Pharrell and Christina made the right choices, IMO. Only Adam’s team left. Adam’s save was surprising to me. Can’t say it was the wrong decision–just a surprise.
Im 9 for 9…tyvm…Pharrell saves Koryn after sawyer and Mia were voted in.
Diamonds…a Sia song. (Take that haters)
I must be the only one here who likes Hannah. I agree with America’s choices, but not with the rest of the judges’ choices. Hopefully they see things that we don’t. That should keep the rest of the show interesting.
Who did Adam save? I missed the very end.
Adam saved Brian.
Brian
What did you think of their group number? That was the only one I didn’t like.
Except for the order of Team Xtina, I would have hit 1.000! Only Blake has a real choice with his three bottom ones pretty close. The others were highly predictable. Adam was predictable. Nathan and Tonya were doomed.
Now onto getting rid of the next ones!
Meh. But I’m never a fan of the group numbers because their voices rarely mesh.
