Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

I love what Adam said to Sawyer.

Kind of a boring end to the singing… But I will likely watch tomorrow just to see it to the end.

Thanks, @jonri, Seems like Sawyer can’t lose. I did love his first song from the audition, thought he was great , and do love Old Man! And I really like Pharrell, so it would be nice to see a Pharrell win. This season has been okay so look forward to the final results.

Koryn’s Man’s World was my favorite song of the night.

Too bad Sawyer didn’t sing Ohio instead. B-)

By the way, I was not impressed by Joshua’s version of Cohen’s song. The sweet rendition lacked the emotion that this song gives EASILY. It was in k.d. Lang type at the Olympics. Many contestants have done way better than Joshua with this song. He should have left the guitar alone. I think it was distracting.

The song will not hurt him but it surely did not elevate his chances. His original song was way better.

Hallelujah is a great song, but at this point it is difficult for anyone, anywhere to deliver a version that is revelatory.

Perhaps, but tonight’s version did not create a single vibe and missed the passion of the original by a mile. It was not terrible but just bland and boring … as Joshua has been all along.

I disagree. I think that, as Adam said, what he does is subtle.

Oh well, the best part is that we were spared one more week with last minute saves. Tonight started really well but was not a great night for anyone. Sawyer did not need to be great - he hasn’t been great for a while. The others needed a miracle. It did not happen.

You guys area a tough crowd, lol! I really enjoyed the night and thought they all did well. Koryn was adorable in the Beatle’s song, although it’s impossible to improve on a Beatle’s song, so I’m never impressed with a new take. Loved the Paul Simon duet, which was perfect for Josh. I liked the presentation of Josh’s original song, but actually found it rather repetitious and dull musically, but it was a good platform for his voice.
Sawyer was Sawyer all the way. I always really enjoy watching him and there’s something very satisfying about his voice. It has an effortless richness that is innate and he has an acute sense of timing. I think he has the potential to really take the win and make a career with it. He’s solid. He has room to grow, but he’s good enough as is.
Meghan is the only one I really don’t enjoy. She’s passionate and does have potential, but she has to get that twang out of her voice! It’s just grating. She has grown on me, though.
Overall, a good night for all of them.

I think you have the right attitude, Moonchild. These musicians are artists and generally competing is not what artist do. They collaborate better than they compete, so seeing their strengths and gifts is much more satisfying than ripping them apart, even though it is easy to pick on things each could have done more to our satisfaction.

They all seem like great people and I really want success for all of them. While there has to be a winner on this show, I think each of them got more than they expected at this point.

I liked Pharrell’s song, though Koryn didn’t do the best job with it.

Moonchild, ditto everything you said.

Critiquing the performances is inherent to a contest. It is not a measure of their character. We might like them and still find faults in their … voice.

The mentors are fair game.

I won’t be around to see the ending tonight, unless we get my son packed up from college in record time. I’m assuming Sawyer will win, but would appreciate the rest of the rankings being reported.

Again, I am not sure what could happen in the public voting for Sawyer to lose this. He consolidated his already immense lead on iTunes. I heard that the Today people picked Koryn to win, but they must not have a clue about how the voting works. Here’s the latest one.

  1. Sawyer Fredericks – Team Pharrell – Please

  2. Sawyer Fredericks – Team Pharrell – Old Man

  3. Meghan Linsey – Team Blake – Change My Mind

  4. Joshua Davis – Team Adam – The Workingman’s Hymn

  5. Joshua Davis – Team Adam – Hallelujah

  6. Meghan Linsey – Team Blake – When a Man Loves a Woman

  7. Koryn Hawthorne – Team Pharrell – Bright Fire

  8. Koryn Hawthorne – Team Pharrell – It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World

Add all the multipliers from previous weeks and Sawyer will win. The only suspense is for second place with Meghan in the lead. Koryn should be fourth.

I rushed home for this… A repeat of last night? Oh well, I can multi task. I hope they make some announcement soon.

A less boring part of The Voice 2015

I didn’t watch the recap hour but just flipped channels and caught a replay of Sawyer’s Old Man from last night. Listening to it again, I think he deserves to win on that performance alone. Yes, I’ve been a fan of his since the first night he was on. He’s the only one out of the 4 I would go see in person.

Can’t believe they are going to drag this out 2 more hours.

I love songs like Old Man, Hallelujah. Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Dylan, B.B. King, Springsteen, etc. seemed special from the beginning. I am just waiting to still see something THAT special. I know it wasn’t obvious with all of the people I mention , but sometimes there is just something that can’t be denied.
