Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

Much better duets tonight.

I am late to the party, but I have to agree with xiggi’s comment from last night regarding “Hallelujah.” It really missed the mark. I also like k.d. lang’s version, but Brandi Carlisle also does a phenomenal live version. The song needs a certain something, and those singers who achieve it are a cut above the rest.

Still a Meghan fan, and I thought her duet just now was really good.

Spoiler alert…

4th Koryn; 3rd Joshua; 2d Meaghan; winner Sawyer

I hope Sawyer stays a good kid.

Good job Sawyer

Hard to argue with the final result and the order. It followed iTunes to a tee. Even with a great Kelly Clarkson, they surely milked this to death.

PS Without a bonehead choice, Blake would have had two in the final three one more time. Could we have a season without Adam and Moron5? Good luck making that song a summer hit! What will hurt this summer are our ears! And I thought that Animals was the worst to endure.

Love Sawyer. Loved the Sawyer-John Fogerty duet…Have you ever seen the Rain? Happy Sawyer won.

I’m happy Sawyer won–I was one of those who picked him as the winner at his blind audition, not because I’m such a great talent scout, but because he was so clearly exceptional. What I don’t understand is how Meghan secured second place, since she is woefully unexceptional and was outsung so often by Koryn. But maybe Blake’s voting posse is just really large and dedicated? Interesting how Sawyer’s parents are as even-keeled and calm as he is–I would have been screaming, jumping up and down and weeping copious tears if my teenage kid had won, but they just smiled beatifically. Maybe it’s a farmer thing…

Obviously, thousands of listeners thought differently, including me! Sawyer was the clear favorite, the only one who was not cut nor stolen, and won most weeks. The second best vocalist was, however, Meghan. Some might not like her style or even older look, but she displayed the broadest range, took risks, and sold the second most iTunes. She also did not play the safe CW card.

Both Koryn and Joshua had performances that could and should have sent then home. Take a good look at the weekly results.

To each its own!

For me, Sawyer is the frontrunner on Team Pharrell, Meghan Linsey is close behind on Team Blake, India on Team Christina, Joshua on Team Adam, and wildcard Mia Z Team Pharrell.<<<

From Jshain on 3-30! Without the Flipper night, you would have them all correct. Well, safe for India who was with Deanna the most overrated performer this season.

What a satisfying ending to a great season! Sawyer for President! (2060)

Was a doubter (sounds more positive than hater) all season long of Koryn’s vocal tone but I actually loved her “It’s a man’s man’s man’s world” performance. Was a big fan of Meghan all season but thought she lost her way when she strayed from country. Mildly surprised that she was still runner up.

I would pay to go see the final 12 (?) perform (unlike this season of Idol, where I wouldn’t go even if it were free). Some would argue that those who placed 7-12 were as talented, or at least as entertaining, as the top 6.

Stay in touch, and may the Voice be with you!

FYI, According to this article, which quotes his mom, Sawyer does write and sing his own songs.

I didn’t watch any of the show at all just followed through my local news.

My major regret with this season’s results is the early exit of Mia Z. I think she is also exceptional, and look forward to Pharrell working with her.

Even though the results were fairly predictable, I thought it was a very entertaining season. I enjoyed the variety of talent and I’ve enjoyed reading everyone’s comments here on cc. 'Til next season…

Ray LaMontagne put a nice shout out to Sawyer on his Facebook page. Comments from folks who discovered Ray through the Voice and Sawyer singing his song, so win/win all around.

Seconding Toledo!

I must be the only one who just doesn’t think Sawyer is all that great. I don’t care for his tone - too flat.

Or maybe I just can’t get over thinking about how, if you turn him around and put a pair of glasses on him, he would look just like Cousin It.

@kelsmom ha…ha…Boys don’t look like Sawyer in our neck of the woods.

I’m fine with Sawyer winning, but really…he got the ray la montagne song? I thought it showed us more from josh and megan singing their own songs. The trick is releasing a good album with good songs. I personally would not listen to sawyer, and my 18yo who should be his fan base, would not either.

I wasn’t that thrilled with the final 4. I thought as usual the blinds were more entertaining.

Could we please stick a fork in Christina - miss - let me show you how i sing, and give non critiques.

And Adam - you used to be my secret celebrity crush, but now I get to know him I think he is just arrogant and mean spirited.

The winners of this season imo are Pharrell and Blake.

I agree that the final four (or two) this season weren’t as compelling as in other seasons.

I thought Christina’s impressions vignette was very good.

And I like the banter between Adam and Blake. It seems intense but good-natured at the heart of it. I find it funny.

Sawyer wasn’t my utter favorite, but I’m ok with his win. He grew on me a bit, and he’s only 16. Koryn slowly grew on me a bit too, and she was helped in the end by using songs where her frenetic gesturing (sorry, it was) fit the song. Based on a pure performance/voice basis, I might have voted for her, although Meghan was extremely good too.

As I’ve said before, this show shows you how tough it is to make it in the singing business. Its a little like gladiators in the colosseum, except entertainment-wise instead of fighting.
