Madi Davis knocked it out of the park! Great song choice. Stripped down on the background so her voice, transitions, etc., cut through like a knife through butter. Self-accompaniment. The best Indie artist (so far) this season. Her iTunes ranking should be in the top-10 in the morning.
The only other memorable performance tonight for me was from Barrett. Really leaves it all on the stage. Hard to believe that 12 years ago he was “only” in the top-48 on American Idol. I won’t be a bit surprised if he joins Madi in the top-10 on the iTunes downloads.
I hope they don’t bring Gwen back again. I’m tired of her emphasis on appearance with the contestants. Maybe she wants to distract from the talent on her opposing coaches’ teams.
If I were representing Gwen I’d be pretty nervous about her future on the show when things with Blake fizzle. Not that she needs this show but it might not be a choice she gets to make next year.
Am I the only one who was not impressed with Madi? All the comments are complementary, but I don’t see it. Didn’t care for Morgan’s performance, either. Or Emily Anne’s (I have heard better renditions of this song by members of my own church’s choir).
I thought Zach did a heck of a job … he gave a fun performance that didn’t seem strained or out of tune.
I like several of the other performers, but I am beginning to feel that there is too much of a tendency for the performers to over-dramatize. I think that’s why I liked Zach … I like to be entertained, and I was.
I thought Darius chose the wrong song to try to win itunes points. He should have gone with a Motown classic … go for the itunes downloads the way the country singers choose religious songs.
Still, I would pick him over Mark. I just like him more as a singer and performer. So my three from Pharrell’s team are Evan, Darius, and Madi.
From Blake, I have to say I liked Barrett a lot though I’m not a country fan and Zach was fun to watch, so those two. I know the third will be Emily Ann, but I find her boring. Didn’t care for Morgan either. If I could choose, I would give Nadja more time to try to develop her performance skills…but she’s not there yet so I doubt she’s coming back.
I’m not a regular Voice watcher but caught last night. I am a country music fan. I absolutely loved Zach’s version of Brand New Girlfriend. That song is pretty old and took a long time to hit no. 1, but I was impressed that someone would commit to it so totally. And I liked that it wasn’t the typical power ballad.
jonri, I would have agreed with you… before I saw Viktor’s iTunes ranking this week: 112th.
My “locked in” team, which I finalized about 30 minutes before the deadline today, is as follows:
Jordan (Adam)
Emily Ann (Blake)
Zach (Blake)
Jeffery (Gwen)
Madi (Pharrell)
This week’s iTunes downloads rankings convinced me to take Emily Ann over Barrett. I thought he had a great and better night than Emily Ann on Tuesday yet EA ranked #6 compared to his #20. I am hoping “youth is served” this season.
I’m going to get off this thread so I don’t read any more spoilers before it starts out West…
Wasn’t Emily Ann in the top 10? I thought that meant she got some type of multiplier benefit. Is this the first time a contestant wasn’t saved by iTunes?
Oops, I peeked. toledo, The iTunes top-10 gets you a multiplier benefit (times 10) but you still have to have the votes. If she went home then she didn’t have enough votes after all the votes were calculated. This might be a first…
My D and I are betting that Jordan will whip out the Whitney soon. We are hoping for “I Have Nothing.”
I also am surprised that Gwen saved Korin instead of Viktor. And not surprised at all that Blake saved Emily Ann. Why does he keep saying there’s no one like her in country music?
eyemamom, I don’t get the love for Mark Hood. I haven’t liked one of his performances yet. I did think it was great strategy to have him on the key board to start his performance on Tuesday. I still think Korin is going to have a “breakthrough” moment and surprise a lot of people when she performs HER song.
