Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

Tuesday night’s show could have been named “Battle Round Light”-- only a 1-hour show. Consequently, Owen (one of our favorites) and others were only on camera a brief moment. Is that a bad sign for Owen moving forward or just the producer’s way of creating drama?

I am hoping Laith Al-Saadi makes it to the live show. I don’t have him in my top-5 yet, but I’ve really enjoyed every one of his performances so far. I think this season they have 2 of the best “oldie but goodies” in both Laith and Tamar Davis.

Strange song choices… again. Glad the artists have better control of their fate next week when they do the choosing.

What’s with Christina’s hairstyle? I was expecting to see in the credits, “Hair by Blake Shelton”.

Not a good sign for Owen.

Do you like Adam’s new hair? I don’t mind the ribbing between the judges, but I don’t like the way Adam keep calling Blake “stupid”.

How about Pharrell giving up Brian? Didn’t everyone agree Brian was the better singer? It seemed like he didn’t want to send someone home, so figure Brian had a better chance of being stolen. I don’t think Pharrell is as competitive as the other coaches.

I thought that Blake’s duo massacred The Chain. They are both good singers, but that rendition was truly awful.

I loved Laith and the other guy’s version of Honky Tonk Women. I could listen to them all night. Laith is a great performer, but his appearance creeps me out. I just can’t deal with that beard. I’m sorry to be so shallow. He needs Gwen to take him in hand and give him a new look, LOL.

I also really like the guy Adam who played keyboards. I’m tempted to put both him and Laith on my team, although I know that neither of them will win.

Caity has a lot of potential. She needs to stop chewing the scenery. I’m starting to get her and Emily(?) mixed up.

I liked Brian also.

5 people is definitely not enough on a team! I have had both Owen and Peyton since their auditions, but I was hoping to hear them again to make up my mind. No such luck. :frowning:

Owen had a top-100 iTunes ranking in his blind audition and I don’t think it was a fluke. I will be surprised if his days are numbered. I’m keeping him on my team. I think the Voice brass are toying with us now that we can play along. Peyton is awesome as well. I like your team, Consolation.

I’ve developed a real fondness for Owen. I listened to some of his music on his website I met his dad once when he owned the Starland Cafe in DC, named for his '70s band, which I liked when I was high school, despite the schlocky “Afternoon Delight.”

I really like Owen, just listened to him on youtube, what a lovely voice!

I may dump Alisyn for owen. I just thought it was bad news he wasn’t shown. Leith just looks too creepy for me…the hat, the fur, hiding behind the keyboard…he has a unabomber look to me.

Laith plays the guitar…are you mixing him up with the keyboard player? They both have big beards, but Laith’s appearance is definitely worse. At least IMHO.

I read this morning that Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys will join Blake and Adam as judges for the fall season. I love Alicia Keys; not such much Miley, but I should probably withhold judgement until after I see how she coaches in the knockout round.

Miley Cyrus as a VOCAL coach? They’ve got to be kidding.

I think Miley is going to be surprisingly effective.

Why isn’t Gwen Stefani going to be one of the female coaches?

Just saw the news about Miley. I think she will be great. She has a great voice and certainly knows how to put on a show.

I hope she keeps her tongue in her mouth. I’ve seen enough of it to last me a lifetime.

Yes. And her clothes on. And doesn’t talk. Or sing.

And Pharrell will be leaving! I’ll miss him.

If Gwen doesn’t ever return, it wouldn’t bother me–nice woman, but not very good as assessing talent or mentoring and not the brightest bulb in the chandelier.

Miley is bright and quick and certainly doesn’t lack for personality, so I think she’ll be a plus when it comes to the overall entertainment level of the show. And while I’ve never been fond of her voice–too nasally for me–she knows her stuff when it comes to music. It has to be kept in mind that The Voice is as much about the judges and their interplay as it is about the competitors, so bringing in fresh blood periodically and going for a big personality is the way to keep the show lively and interesting.

I remember when Miley was a mentor on American Idol several years ago, and being surprised at how good she was at it. At that time she was very young, probably 17 or 18 and she was much better than some of the older and more experienced mentors.

I don’t really think of The Voice as having the same viewers as those who listen to Miley Cyrus’ music. Maybe the producers are trying to pull in a younger, hipper demographic. Because I am certainly not young and hip. Not saying the rest of you aren’t.

I’m really considering dumping Maya. I added her to my team based on her audition, which was very fresh, but I wasn’t impressed with her next appearance. If I did, I could add one of the rockers I love who won’t win, or maybe Daniel. Or Emily. Or even Mary Sarah. Although there’s something about her that annoys me.

I’m glad to hear that Miley was a good mentor on American Idol. It would be hard to be less valuable than Rihanna. The guy, whose name I can’t recall, struck me as fairly useless also. Taylor Swift was the big surprise for me: I though she really helped refine performances, if nothing else than by counselling singers to vary their tone and dynamics and cut out the constant belting.

Omg, I can’t believe that Adam has paired Ryan and owen, my team members!!
