I fast forwarded through the SNL tribute to Prince during lunch today. I was surprised to see Tamar featured with Prince in an SNL performance, mentioned in the intro and thanked by name at the end of the evening. I had caught her association with Destiny’s Child early on, but not this. I have conflicted feelings over those contestants who have had professional opportunities and not gotten where they want career wise with their initial break. I usually enjoy their performances, but find myself rooting for the underdogs. However, I really did like Tamar and had hoped to see her advance, but her last performance didn’t measure up to what she had done the week before.
I’ve been watching with my visiting sister. So hard to realize how others don’t know this music. Ah, she is fast asleep on couch.
I know a lot of you like him but Owen needs to go.
Christina needs to use some of her $$ to dress more tastefully.
2VU0609, I believe in Tamar’s backstory before her blind audition that she said she performed with Prince. If any of you have not yet seen Twenty Feet From Stardom, I highly recommend it. The story is about backup singers.
Christina WAS dressing tastefully… before the live rounds began.
Christina seems distracted tonight.
Mary Sarah’s performance this week is her best in weeks, IMO, but ended a little weak. I liked Owen, but thought he also ended a bit weak.
Just start to watch tonight’s episode…I was hoping for a better performance from Owen…guess it doesn’t happen.
Still an Owen fan!
Owen is on my team, but I’m not going to vote for him. I’m sorry I missed the deadline to dump him for laith. Can’t believe Emily is gone. Much less interested now .
I must have missed the first one or two tonight. Continue to dislike Mary Sarah. Paxton was more powerful but he just doesn’t interest me.
Brian keeps getting better. Love Adam W.
Hannah did a truly lousy job with a truly great song. Yuck.
I’m waiting for laith to wipe it from my memory
Come on Laith, Hanna did stink it up.
Owen sang one of my fav songs, but didn’t do it justice. Bye
Laith was awesome!
Laith remains my favorite. Based purely on vocal talent, he is head and shoulders above the others.
I thought this was Mary Sarah’s best night. I have never been a Nick fan, but I’m afraid, as much as I like him, that Owen may be going home. Alisan is so polished. I guess years of professional experience will do that for you.
I’m confused. I thought Hannah was one of the best of the night, even though she annoys me with her constant hand movement. That was bad? Bryan sounded rather off key. Alison did not sound great to me. Maybe there’s something messed up with my sound system!
Laith, wow!
busdriver11, a winner from an earlier season sang that song beautifully. It’s not that she was out of tune or anything, it’s that she was hard-edged and all over the place, and devoid of feeling.
That was great, Consolation. Did he win? The musical arrangement was beautiful too, no comparison.
I think this season I’m to the point that if someone isn’t out of tune, I think they’re pretty good. I’m just not seeing anyone who is phenomenal, and I thought there were going to be so many good ones. When it gets to the live shows, people just don’t sound so great anymore. Adam and Laithe still sound good, but most everyone else needs autotuning!
I’ve been hoping for Hannah to be voted out because of her “antennas” are wearing on me. I also wish they would stop with the silly crowd hand waving thing during slow songs, because it’s very distracting. I want someone who wows you every time, is that too much to ask?

I thought Laith was awesome last night! And Nick was painfully bad. Sorry, Nick. I feel like Owen or Nick should go home tonight.
Laith is really growing on me. Also Adam Wakefield. I love Alisan and have a special place in my heart for Daniel.
Much as I like Owen and Nick, I was very disappointed with their performances and would not be sad if either leaves the show tonight.
