Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

Ughh Mary Sarah, really? What a dreadful song. Why can’t she sing something more mainstream?

I don’t know if I’m just tired of the show or if the contestants just aren’t as good this season. Laith was good. The rest I haven’t been impressed with.

Watching… Daniel needs to go.

Love me a Patty Griffin song!

Yes, Daniel is done. Nick should dance more to cover up some vocal issues. I actually liked Hannah, other than the vocal slides. Shalyah was good, so much potential still. Laith displayed amazing musicianship, H loved him.

My favorites tonight were Nick, Mary Sarah, and Brian.

I love it when they have such accomplished musicians on the show as contestants.

@VANURSEPRAC Are you being sarcastic? This season’s contestants have a little too much experience, IMO. I feel like it should be called “Second Chances”.

Mary Sarah has Tammy Wynette DNA. I thought she sang that quite well.

Wow, Alisan. Nice job.

I gotta Woman by Adam. He is the cutest country singer on this show and he can sing. I usually wish they would clean up but scruffy works on him.

I posted a few weeks ago that Mary Sarah should sing Tammy Wynette and I think she did a great job.

^Yes you did, musicmom… I remember!

They listened to you! You were right @musicmom1215.

I’ve had a soft spot for Daniel all along, but he was not good tonight. I think he’ll be leaving, but I don’t know who I would put in the bottom with him.

Laith. Wow. Incredible.

Didn’t like Daniel tonight at all. My favorite Aerosmith song, and he just did not sound good. Not crazy about Nick either, I thought he missed a lot of notes. Was that a stripper cage and chair they had him in? A little weird, there.

I’d have Daniel, Nick and Paxton in the bottom 3.

I must have been mis-hearing, but I thought Paxton sounded great with the exception of a 2 or 3 big notes near the end of the song. I would have placed him in the top 4 performances of the night.

I’ve thought that for a long time. You could title the show…“Here’s why you’re not going to make your living as a performing artist.” Once you get to the final dozen or so, they’re all really super good, multi-talented, and more than half of them are seasoned performers still trying to create their big break. Similar to the 30 year old minor leaguers in baseball.

Laith is growing on me. He gives you the impression that if things don’t work out for him on the show, he’ll go back to performing where he has been all along…because he likes it. So many of the contestants who’ve had a brief career make comments that they’ve “got to get away from the performing life they’ve had so far”.

My pet peeve is becoming the lack of instruction from the show on how not to look frenetic when gesturing during performances. A lot of the singers wave their hands far too ungracefully in their attempts to emote. Maybe that’s harder to coach than you’d think. It must be. At any rate, there something to be said for entertainers who don’t appear to be in pain during the performance. (Paxton gets a nod on that point.)
