Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

Woke up this morning and just read that Christina Grimmie was fatally shot following a concert in Orlando.

We are in Orlando. She was shot after a concert around 10:30. Her brother tackled the gunman , and the gunman shot himself. I’m not sure if it was accidental or self inflicted.

So very sad. Another example of the appalling gun violence in the U.S.

Just awful. The poor girl was only 22 years old.

So sad! She was so young!

I never heard of this young woman before today (I’ve only seen the Voice once or twice). But as the mother of a 22 year old woman, I am horrified and feel so sad for this young lady, her brother, and her mother and father. What a nightmare. I imagine every young performer in the public eye feels empathetic and also uncomfortably vulnerable.

I’m guessing this will turn out to be a case of an obsessed fan. Sick.

So terribly tragic.

Unfortunately we may never know what precipitated the shooting as the shooter shot himself.

Such a terrible tragedy. I’ve been reading the local news, and still no clue what led to the killers motivation.

Very sad & senseless.

This incident is so sad. She was really making progress in her career and was a kind, hard working young lady. It saddens me to hear about this. My own D is not on her level, but is also in the music business doing her gigs and trying to make it on her song writing and performing off in LA. What a terrible thing for her brother to be right there to try to stop it. My heart goes out to her family.

And now the horrific shooting with 20 dead in an Orlando nightclub. When will this end??

The fbi is already coming out saying possible terrorism. They usually don’t go there so quickly.

My heart bleeds for her parents. Her brother is a hero, but to no avail, alas. And then the massacre. I can’t even.

Adam Levine is paying for her funeral and the plane tickets for her mom. Just heartbreaking.

That is very kind.

Anyone catch the sneak Olympic preview of the upcoming season that aired the other night? Looking forward to having Alicia Keys and Miley Cyrus as the new coaches.

I’m going to miss Pharrell. :frowning:

Pharrell was a good judge. Very good in the role.

I’m not sure about the two additions. I guess they’re possibly looking for judges to help their audience skew a bit younger, but I think that remains to be seen. The judges and their chemistry make the show, and things like that are fragile. I hope it all turns out good.

My D auditioned for this round of the show but wasn’t selected. She said that just doing the tryout was amazing fun and she’s still in touch with some of the people she met there. I did see the Olympic preview. The first girl was amazing, the second was, IMHO, just eh. I love Blake, he’s got those WASP-y looks this Jewish girl goes for, but I adore Adam because how many Jewish rock stars are there? I just hate tattoos so I don’t find him the least bit attractive. Miley is a cute addition, very energetic and her comments were far more perceptive than I would have expected. Alicia Keys lives up to her rep as being very cerebral, I’m just not sure how energetic she is. She’s clearly smarter than Gwen Stefani but not as relatable.
