Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

Unlike all the other coaches, I thought Christina had ZERO connection with Chris during their duet. Her greatest connection is always with herself. And, her dress during her duet was awful— both front AND back!

I am hoping Jermaine is the winner. I thought he and Chris had the strongest individual performances. For me, Jermaine had the best vocal performance and I thought Chris had an absolutely perfect song choice for his style of voice. I’m no match for kathiep, but here’s my finalist finish:

Jermaine

Chris

Juliet

Tony

I couldn’t stop drawing Tony comparisons to Phil Philips on American Idol. I think Tony is more versatile, has a stronger voice, and is a better performer than Phil Phil. Their facial expressions are strikingly similar. Jermaine the run-away winner with the others in a dead heat.

Just saw the end, with Juliet’s performance, here on the west coast. I have to say that all of these kids are fun to listen to. Jermaine makes me tear up, he’s so real. I loved the duet he did with Blake- the most fun performance of the evening.

Chris seems like such a sweetheart and I do love his voice. Tony is more of a performer than a singer, imo. His voice is just ok- his appeal is in his style. I feel the same way about Juliet, except that her voice is such a part of her style and is perfect for the kind of music she does, but she is a one-act pony, so to speak, although adorable.
My favorite is Jermaine. He has an amazing voice, a classy style, and a depth and such heart in his performances.
Because they are all so different, I think that their musical style, and how well that matches the style of those who actually vote, will play a big part in who wins. Those who love Rock will pick one of the rockers, and the "old folks’ like me would probably prefer the singers. It will be interesting tomorrow. I think they’ve all done very well, and I’ll be looking forward to the show next season, Christina notwithstanding.

I hope Jermaine wins it all, he was amazing for all 3 songs, even the country, and his connection with Blake was wonderful, as he called it ‘the odd couple’. He has steadily improved every week, whereas most of the other finalists sound similar to their auditions. I also liked Ceelo and Juliet’s connection. Adam and Tony’s just got kind of creepy, at least on Adam’s end; he looked like a lovelorn groupie when he was watching Tony sing.

Jermaine, 2. Tony, 3/4. Chris and Juliet are interchangeable at the bottom. I can’t believe they gave Juliet the anchor spot yet again; that has to be 3 weeks in a row at least.

Christina took self-involved *****iness to a whole 'nuther level; I don’t think anybody could say that people are harder on her because she is female after watching her go after Tony tonight. She was awful to him, and he has been nothing but classy from the beginning. I am guessing that he must have liked Brittany more than her when they were tweens. Also, were any of you riveted to her right breast during the duet? I thought for sure we were going to have another wardrobe malfunction.

I’m on the West coast – just finished watching the show.

JMO but Juliet was awful tonight. I didn’t like her coach tribute or her solo and I FFWed through her duet with Ceelo (it was terrible).

With the exception of Ceelo and Juliet I enjoyed all of the duets. I had to close my eyes during Christina and Chris’ duet. I didn’t want Christina’s strange outfit to negatively influence the song. I really liked Tony /Adam and Jermaine / Blake duets.

Again w/ the exception of Juliet’s I enjoyed the coach tributes. Probably my favorites were Chris’ and Jermaine’s.

My favorite solos were Chris and Jermaine. Tony’s was ok and Juliet’s was a distant forth.

My vote: Jermaine, Chris, Tony, Juliet.

I’m a Chris fan and I thought he did a good job of managing a bad situation when Christina started her real man rant by saying he liked Adam’s shirt. It seemed to me that was his way of not being sucked into Christina’s venom for Tony. I enjoyed their duet of The Prayer and thought Chris was wonderful. I thought Christina must be insecure about her performance because she wanted to work it into her comments on Juliet that she was sick also and how hard it was to perform when you didn’t feel good. As for her dress, she must not have any girlfriends, because surely someone would have told her how unflattering it was in the back.

^^^Even DH,never an astute observer of fashion, commented on Christina’s dress and noticed her “back fat”. I didn’t even know DH knew that term! She has made a mockery of herself this season.

I think Jermaine is the winner too.

Interesting show last night. On Christina, the Twitter world suggested that the actual insult she was making was against Adam. Apparently there was a big blow out fight between her and Adam on Sunday at rehearsal. Adam/Tony’s 99 song had a phrase similar to, “I’ve got 99 problems but a b**** ain’t one.” Twitter suggested that Christina knew that the b**** was actually aimed at her in disguise and she demanded that the word be changed or that the song be changed and Adam blew up at her (verbally).

Anyway, she is so un-classy in an opportunity to be professional and supportive of these The Voice singers. That dress was awful in so many ways … why would anyone in wardrobe have let her go on the stage like that? I think the reason is related to that story where the king has no clothes and everyone is afraid to be honest with him.

My pick is Jermaine, followed by Tony, Chris then Juliet. (And now for the elephant in the room …) But, here’s my concern for Jermaine … will him being a very handsome, bald, African American man cause viewers to want a different type of winner this year since Javier, last year’s winner, was a very handsome, bald, African American man? I hope not, because I think Jermaine is even more dynamic than Javier, and I really liked Javier.

Did anyone else notice that when Tony was giving his speech to thank Adam and the other judges, that Christina was looking at her phone? Unbelievably rude!

I saw that to. That is what made me mad with her. Unfortunately Chris will feel the wrath of having her for a coach. I liked tonight better than last year. You had three songs to sway the votes and Jermaine killed each one.

I, too, noted the phone and the back fat. What was she thinking? She must be one of the world’s major consumers of double-sided tape, is all I can say. (The idea of a woman who presents herself that way doing a major rant on respect for women leaves me a bit bemused.)

Snowflake, Javier and Jermaine are so completely different. It never occurred to me to think of them as similar. I guess I would peg Javier’s ethnicity/persona as Latino or maybe Caribbean, not African-American.

Was that Joel Osteen I saw in an audience reaction shot after Chris sang?

I wonder if the judges have any idea that their squabbling actually hurts the kids that are on their team. As soon as Christina made the sexist lyrics remark to Tony, I imagined that many people who were fed up with Christina would put their votes with Tony, to spite her.
I’d love to see Jermaine win, and I’d love to see Blake get the feather in his cap, as he seems to be the only grown up in the group. He also gets that it’s not about him.

If the same coaches are here next year, I think CeeLo and Blake will be the most popular, as they seem to put all their contestants first, and do the best job they can. Christina is just too self-involved, and Adam threw Katrina under the bus, and has seemed kind of petty with the whole Christina/Tony thing, and bringing it into the songs has not been the best choice for Tony. I thought the 99 song sounded like something from a BonJovi concert, not a singing competition. As to Chris, I just don’t understand the popularity; there is much better out there in that genre already.

The show “powers that be” don’t care what happens to the contestants. They care about ratings and the squabbles between judges are something that keep some people tuning in. They are obviously all encouraged to go after each other. Blake does it good naturedly. Ceelo just does his thing. Adam and Christina, being the divas that they are, eat it up.

I think Chris is happy with Christina. Their mooning over each other is over the top and awkward.

I agree that the show sponsors want ratings. But I thought Chris looked and sounded unhappy with Christina. He can’t throw her under the bus, but he did his best to distance herself from her antics.

Agreed. I know I’m not the demographic the sponsors are aiming for…but Christina is just so AWFUL that I don’t understand how she got where she is.

She has a wonderful voice and she has great instincts with music. And as a diva, she isn’t required to play nice with people, LOL!

Speaking of new vices, is anyone else enamored of Smash, the show that follows The Voice? I’m crazy about it.

i really like Smash too. Have no clue how accurate it is but it’s entertaining. It’s a great ensemble cast with some very talented people involved. Plus I’d tune in just to see Jack Davenport and hear his British accent!

Love Smash…hate to see it end soon.

I’ve been watching Smash also. Who do you think is going to be Marilyn??

If you like Smash and Katharine McPhee…did you know they sang The Prayer together over a year ago? David Foster introduced them. Their video is on YouTube as are many of Chris Mann’s songs that are more pop/ballad than opera. He also sings the little LOVE song commercial between Khloe and Lamarr show and Ice/Coco one. I don’t watch those but D2 told me about that.
