Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

I didn’t love the song “Wishes” that We’ performed but thought she performed it well. Youdon’tsay and bookworm, I agree and think Broadway is in her future. Thought Billy had his personal best performance of the season… Ditto for Sundance, but I cannot remember him having an off-week all season long. With those two “solo” performances, it really felt like you were at one of their shows. I clearly thought they were the stars tonight. For me, Josh was definitely a distant 4th.

Yup, that’s him. He REALLY did not belong in this final.

I’ll have to watch the show tomorrow, but “My Way”? Yuck. I detest that song. Rain on My Parade? Seriously?? If there’s one thing I get tired of on this show it’s the constant belting. Do something else, for doG’s sake.

Ya, I comes down to we or Sundance for me. I hope billy finds a future, but I don’t see him winning record albums. He has a great voice.

Okay, I think Sundance had the best night, but can see Billy or WE also winning. Josh, 4th place. Also agree that Ali should have been in final.

WE was amazing in that last song and being last will help her. Billy had his best night, but he should not think that he is cool … he is a great singer, but he is not cool like Adam. He has to align himself with his personality, not an image of cool. I loved Billy’s first song and the duet, only liked the song that was leftover from adam’s band.

My prediction:
Sundance (winner)
WE (very close 2nd, but will star on Broadway)
Billy
Josh

Wow… Sundance, Josh, and Billy are ALREADY ranked nos. 2, 3, and 4 respectively on iTunes (with Darlin’ Don’t Go, Pick Any Small Town, and My Way) and the show hasn’t even begun here on the West Coast. We’ is currently #24 with Wishes.

It is my feeling that neither Sundance nor Josh will win. I have not viewed any of the finale, being on the west coast. However, just the fact that both of them are country makes me think that they are competing in the same lane, and will split the country vote.

But, who knows?

My prediction:

Sundance
Billy
We’
Josh

After listening to it…I agree with jshain. Definitely in that order.

In past seasons the 5X multiplier was not in play for the finals. Did they say anything during tonight’s show regarding this? Without cable or satellite, I only am watching the performances at this time. We’ (Wishes) is at #12 right now. The others are top-10 ranked.

Here is the link for the iTunes top-200 rankings:

If you refresh the page, say every 30 minutes, it should update.

Well, I just watched Billy sing My Way. I’ve always detested that song. He brought me to tears. Wow. Incredible.

jshain, I don’t recall their mentioning the multiplier.

One of the big criticisms of The Voice is that few contestants have done well commercially on their own. This season I sense greater effort on the part of the coaches to position the singers for future success. Refining their genre and showcasing them in a specific niche that is commercially viable seems to be more visible this season imho

IMHO Sundance wins. Then Billy, We, and Josh at the bottom.

I think We’ was setting herself up for a career on Broadway. Not a bad move (and she would be fabulous).

As I said above, I am not a close follower of The Voice. Who has made it biggest off the show? Did Cassadee Pope start there? AI has had so many big names that if does make The Voice pale in comparison.

I’m watching it now and Carson did mention a multiplier. Rooting for Billy.

Just saw Blake and Sundance’s duet. I would be o.k. with Sundance winning.

Youdon’tsay, Speaking for myself and likely others as well, our favorite segment of the show are the blind auditions. Love how the coaches fight one another. The banter between Adam and Blake is very funny, IMO. The coaching of the artists is also interesting, including the guest coaches who appear. I enjoy building my own team and playing along each week. I love how some of the artists have a musical past that wasn’t entirely fulfilled.

Making an impact in the music industry is similar to making it as an actor. There is an over abundance of talent and only so many available slots to fill…

I agree, @jshain, the best part is the blind auditions. At this point, I’m fast forwarding through so much of the show on my DVR to just see the actual performances unless it’s a contestant that I like really well and then I’ll watch the set-up pieces with coaching, etc. I’ll be shocked if Josh or We win tonight, but I can’t make a prediction between Billy & Sundance. I haven’t really cared for We throughout the season, but she really wowed me with her performance of Don’t Rain on My Parade last night. I think kelsmom may be right about a Broadway career.

But wouldn’t a Broadway career involve a “speaking” voice?
