Hunter Plake, I Want To Know What Love Is, currently #41 but definitely trending even better. May possibly get into the teens later today. It will be interesting to watch Jack Cassidy perform tonight (?) and see if Alicia kept the “right one”. Their duet from last week is still ranked in the iTunes top-200 this week. Gwen has really strengthened her team with her steals the past 2 weeks getting Hunter last week and now Quizz this week.
Saw an interesting discussion this morning on FB from friends who earn their livings with their voices in theatre, caberet and concert. They were all ‘holding their throats’ while watching last night’s show, and were very concerned that several of those singers are headed for vocal nodes. I haven’t watched last night’s show yet.
I haven’t paid much attention recently. Last night I was very impressed with Hannah from Adam’s team. She’s one of the few who reminded me (over the past several seasons) of Danielle Bradbery. The quality of her voice and her effortlessness struck me as singular. I’m looking forward to paying more attention in the weeks to come. No one else is really grabbing me as a supreme talent/entertainer.
I also liked Hanna and added her to my team last night after having spots open up due to losing Autumn and Felicia. I have had Lilli on my team for 35 days. I really like her and was glad she stayed. Anatalia is up tonight and I have had her for 36 days. Hopefully she stays.
The only decision I strongly disagreed with was Alicia’s choice of Ashley over Lili. I’d like to have Lili on my team, but the person I’d have to drop for her is Vanessa, and I need to hear Vanessa again before taking that step.
I was afraid for Chris facing the kid, but his performance genuinely blew everyone away. Yes, he is as amazing as he seemed at first, and more so.
Very few standout performances tonight .

I absolutely love how Gwen has added some really interesting artists on her team through her steals. First Brennley 2 weeks ago, plast week Hunter, and last night Quizz. For me, Brennley makes me think of Danielle Bradbery rather than Hanna, since Danielle and Brennley are both young country singers. This is a very hard season to predict favorites-- so far. In recent seasons, there were a few artists who did very well on iTunes. Except for Hunter, no one is making any impact on iTunes. We will see if anyone else does after tonight. Currently Brennley Brown is #182 so she has a good chance to break the top-50 by tomorrow. Hunter is currently #30.
I really like both Enid and TSoul, and I think Enid was MUCH more steal-worthy than Aaliyah. In fact, I think she was much better than anyone else who went forward. I would like to hear TSoul singing as himself rather than as Otis Redding, although I absolutely adore Otis Redding, one of the all time greats. I felt that Enid sang as herself.
Anatalia does nothing but belt. I felt like she started in overdrive and remained there throughout. Dawson was horribly pitchy at the beginning, although he recovered well. I don’t like Brennley’s voice at all, although it was a good performance. In what world does Aaliyah go forward and Enid is eliminated?
I don’t regard Danielle Bradbery as a winner to emulate, because she was extremely limited and stayed in a very, very narrow lane. (Very well played by Blake, though.) True that she always seemed at ease. Not a virtue, IMHO.
