Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

And why did Christina pick the husband/wife duo “Beat Frequency”? Could Christina somehow telepathically see that the wife shared her “fashion sense”? Scary.

Add me to the list of Avery fans.

Yes, and the young man who foolishly came out and sang his own song about line/party dancing instead of selecting a song that would have showcased his talent.

It’s not Blake, it’s Christina and Cee Lo. And just for the spring show due to other commitments they have.

[Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green take ‘Voice’ break ?
I liked several of the singers last night, especially Avery.

The Cupid Shuffle singer REALLY blew it, didn’t he? All that talk about not wanting to be known or judged by his song and then HE SINGS IT!!

I thought the young girl from the Fame HS was nothing special and I think Adam is going to regret having her on his team. I predict that she will be thrown out pretty quick.

My husband thinks that Cee Lo is the best of the four judges as far as mentoring/teaching the contestants. So far, I like this season’s contestants much more. I would really appreciate less story, more singing though.

^^^I DVR the show and about 1 hour into the recording I start to watch zooming through the commercials and about 80- 90% of the background stories. I finish watching the recording not long after the show has ended. :)

I believe the “shuffle” was from Cuba and even I could dance that one, unlike many of the other dances out there. I thought Blake’s CMA trophy bits were really funny but Christina had the best line of the night. Blake asked Christina if she was going to bring her Grammy trophies on the show and she replied “they wouldn’t all fit on her chair”.

I googled "cuba shuffle before posting and found this: [Cupid Shuffle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Cupid Shuffle - Wikipedia) Love how google knows what I mean even if I type in what I think I mean!

I thought the "towel girl’s’ song choice was poor. Unfortunately, it seemed to make her sound older than her age.
“Cupid Shuffle” - bad song choice. Why do the producers allow that?

Avery is my current favorite. I can’t believe he hasn’t had much experience or training.

Seriously…what was that guy smoking?!! As Cee Lo said, he would not have voted for the guy because he sang Cupid’s song…but who would have thought it was Cupid himself!!! There was no way that guy was going to win. Why oh why didn’t he sing another song that could showcase his talents…

Seems like more of the contestants this year are making unfortunate choices in their song selection. There was another contestant that sang a song that stayed in the middle range for almost the whole song…it didn’t give the singer a chance to wow the judges and they said so.

As for the duo–I think they would be better off if they jettisoned the husband. I think Christina picked them because of the girl…she definitely does seem like Christina’s cup of tea.

Avery is definitely great, but I really, really liked the single dad soul singer from Texas. Very natural cool, as CeeLo said, and a great singer.

I also liked the girl who played guitar and tambourine and had 2-toned hair. She was much better than the crew of weird-voiced girls they put through last season.

The shuffle guy is also great singer. Really too bad that he didn’t just let Marvin Gaye rip to start with.

I thought the duo Christina picked was awful.

Adding Avery to my list of faves. I will be rooting for several. Agree that some contestants who had great talent made silly mistakes in song choice - Cupid being the leader in that category. Also last night’s gal who belted out something that showed no range and tonight’s 33-year old who was nothing but a Whitney imitation.

I enjoy the judges greatly this season (despite my CeeLo pet-bird fatigue, lol… and let’s not even discuss the Christina cleavage fatigue) and would be sorry to see them go. I would miss Christina the least… and my eyes would enjoy the break :p.

Blake had a bad night, with no one selecting him. It makes me realize just how fortunate he was last season when eventual winner Melanie Amaro chose him to be her coach, even though she wasn’t in his genre of country. CeeLo landed the “catch of the night” in last-singer-of-the-night Mycle Wastman, who has a very soulful voice, especially for a white guy. I don’t usually get my heart strings pulled but his story is gut-wrenching, having lost both his parents at a very young age and also the grandfather that raised him. He’ll contend and I’m putting him in my top 4-- Gracia, Bryan, Avery, and now Mycle.

I like the blind auditions so much better than the battle rounds. It seems like many of the singer songwriter musician types are at a little bit of a disadvantage overall, when paired with singers who have the biggest voices.

Hands down Mycle Wastman stole the show tonight. My 2nd favorite of the night was the young mother who foolishly sang a Whitney Houston classic.

I wonder if Blake is having a hard time getting team members because the contestants think the show’s producers will not allow the same coach to win back to back seasons.

Melanie Amaro was the X Factor winner. Jermaine Paul was last year’s Voice winner. Actually, single dad from Texas reminds me of him…maybe it’s just their body shape.

I think that the blind auditions are pieced together from auditions taped at different times. Have you noticed that the last audition on the show is almost always a great one?

Why did they up the contestants on a team to 16? That’s going to make the battle rounds LONG…

Is it just me, but was the “skirt” on the very cute country singer way too short–and I mean “Christina-Aguilara-short?”

I admit that I have a general fondness for soul singers, and Mycle–is that really how he spells his name?!–was another good one. In fact, there were several last night

The drops-out-of-NYU-to-sing guy was a CC story, was he not? I didn’t think he was quite as good as the judges did, which may prove that they can hear nuances better, as someone pointed out above.

I guess I have no ear, as I also liked the single mom who sang Whitney Houston but didn’t get picked, and was underwhelmed by the NYU grad student dropout who they all liked.

I also liked Mycle. Also, didn’t get what all the fuss was about with the NYU dropout guy. Maybe the judges heard something some of us didn’t hear but for now, I don’t get it.

I haven’t watched The Voice so far this season but I read about Collin McLoughlin this morning and had to laugh with the NYU dropout label that’s being used to describe him. This kid has been performing/touring/recording for years. I saw him perform in the city with friends at a gig he was doing there. It may not have come across on tv, but he is incredibly talented. He has some of his music on his website, which is his full name dot com, and lots on youtube. I’m curious if they mentioned any of his experience on the show or did they just prefer to pretend that he was some kid with no experience who dropped out of school on a whim?

I don’t watch “The Voice” but now that Shakira is a fill-in judge, I may have to reconsider. ;)
