Oops… :)

jshain, we have the same favorites.

Did anyone catch the commercial for Christina’s new music video? I don’t think I like her new song. Her voice sounds overproduced (is that the correct term?) much like Cher’s last songs.

Overproduced is the new style…I bought the Vicci Martinez album because I saw an acoustic version of one of the songs from the album on youtube. It was great! But the song on the album was produced to death…not as good.

I have bought music done by some of the contestants from Season 1 (Vicci Martinez, Xenia, Javier Colon)…bought nothing from Season 2. I wonder how Season 3 will stack up…

Thanks for the reminder LMNOP … I will have to look up Javier Colon to see what he’s up to … that’s one that I would still go see.

I can’t even remember the song. I was too distracted by the unflattering clothes she was wearing. She’s a pretty young woman and it’s too bad she doesn’t dress to minimize her flaws and flatter her good features.

Okay, googled the song and saw the preview on itunes. Raunchy song.

I missed the woman who sang the Whitney Houston song the first time round, so I checked her out on Hulu. I really did NOT like her voice. Too much growling. I must say that the host seems like an awfully nice guy. Either he genuinely likes people, or he’s a hell of an actor. :)

My mom was visiting the night the woman sang the Whitney song and she commented that it was a horrible song. I immediately pulled up Whitney singing in on my computer and she decided very quickly that it was the singer who was horrible instead.

I can hardly bare to watch Christina Aguilera. She pretends to know so much about technique but just sounds stupid talking about it. If she knew anything about technique, she would improve her own.

I’ve found Christina quite good about technique when she is coaching her singers. She really has an ear/experience to suggest where a singer should take a song. She is good at her craft. But be warned, Christina team members…she’ll throw you under a bus!

If I remember correctly, he said he was trying to go to grad school and do his music and reached a point where he couldn’t do both and picked his music. Which is not as big of a deal as he was making it – you can always return to grad school. And he presumably already has a high school and college degree.

He might have also been the one to say that he was the first person in his family to go to grad school.

Yep, last season, I seem to recall that Christina pitted some of her best contestants against each other very early on when it would seem she would want to have her best talent still standing later in the competition.

The battle round that I remember was Christina putting the male/female country duo against the rapper and having them sing the Stones’ “Satisfaction” or some such song. Christina chose the rapper to advance. The female member of the duo was so mad she could spit!!

I hate to mention it, but does anyone else get the impression that the judges’ personalities are, um, changeable? This season, for instance, there seems to be none of the Nasty Xtina, where she attacks the guys for trying to plead their cases when contesting with her over a singer. And CeeLo–sometimes he seems to have checked out. Yeah, he likes that voice or other, but he’s not in a mood to fight anyone for them. Maybe the public rejection seems a little less worth it? And Blake. Oh my. He actually seems drunk (in a nice Southern gentlemanly way) in several shows.

Anyone else get a whiff (no pun intended) of subtle behavior shifts lately?

“Chestina” and Adam’s bantering has all but disappeared compared to the two previous seasons, but Blake has picked up some of the slack. They all do seem to be enjoying each other more, and CeeLo does seem to be avoiding much confrontation with his fellow judges.

Maybe the judges were told to quit with the fighting over every contestant…it takes up too much time and I find it mostly blah. With each judge picking 16, there’s probably plenty contestants to go around.

Chestina: LOL! Speaking of which, it amazes me that she has a hair left on her head, given the amount of bleaching she must do.

I agree with ya’ll.

I have to give the blonde witch credit …… during the one on one coaching sessions she appears involved, helpful and even sincere. But!!! If a team member shows any independence (Jesse – season 2) all bets are off. During the coaching session she was less than pleased w/ his song selection (dedicated to his wife) …. she even made a snippy remark about it after the performance. It was obvious the other judges were shocked when she threw him under the bus.

It will be interesting when it comes time for the judges to perform w/ their team if Christina will again make it all about HER.

CeeLo is definitively less engaged this season. I am amazed at his depth of knowledge of the music industry. Irrespective of the genre he knows all the particulars of most songs.

Cee Lo is amazing…actually Blake seems to know more about music other than country than I would have given him credit. On the other hand, sometimes the judges (like Adam) don’t know a song that I thought was a classic. I suppose that’s how you know you are getting old…

Monday and Tuesday had some really good singers that didn’t go through, as spots got filled up and the judges had to get more selective. Not sure what all the fuss is about with Dez Duran, the good-lucking returnee from last season. Kind of surprised he got picked over some of the other singers with a lot more vocal ability.

Liked Brandon Mahone, the 17-year old Motown singer from Monday’s show but Blake landed himself the best singer of the week in Cassadee, who performed last on Tuesday night. I’m betting that she contends for the title with her broad mix of unique vocal ability and originality, something that seems to be lacking this season even though there is a ton of talent overall.

I thought that he very last singer, the one with a big personality and an unusual take on the Adele song was very good. She chose Blake, much to his surprise. I think hse was too challenging for Chestina.

I think my DVR guide said next Tuesday’s episode would be a best of the blind auditions episode. I think I’m overwhelmed with the 16 singer teams and need to see some of these folks again before I can establish any favorites. There continue to be surprises as some folks make the cut who I can’t see as any great talent while other talented individuals get no love!
