Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

I just clicked on the app (Sunday) and it gave me 50,000 points. Was I supposed to be opening the app everyday, even when the show is not on TV? I have a measly 409,500 points.

Jshain, I am catching up on comments. I do like country, but this year I didn’t think the country girls were different enough from what I have seen before, but I did love Brennley from 2 weeks ago. I was more in an R&B, Jazz and soulful mood at the beginning of this season.

My three left are Chris 40 days), Hunter (27) and Vanessa (14).

The Top-12 Live Show begins tonight and continues tomorrow with the elimination results. I just listened to all the iTunes “teasers” of the 12 remaining artists. Overall, the song choices seemed okay except I did not like Jesse’s choice. He sings Make You Feel My Love, written by Bob Dylan and sung by Adele and also Garth Brooks (?). This makes 2 weeks in a row now that he hasn’t wowed me. Hopefully I’m wrong about this because he is one of my faves. Thought Lili had a surprising song choice (that I won’t give away) but sounded great! Also liked Chris, Hunter, Brennley, Lauren, Stephanie, and Vanessa. I am interested to hear what others say after watching his performance tonight, which I won’t be able to see until later on NBC.com or tomorrow on Hulu.

@jshain Yes Garth Brooks sang " Make You Feel My Love." It was used in the movie Hope Floats. His version is my favorite , and I tend to be very picky about other versions , so I’ll be curious to see it.

Jesse’s version wasn’t bad. I think I like him better with his guitar though. That song Mark sang didn’t have much range. In fact it was pretty boring to me, but I’m sure the young people liked it. Stephanie was good. Troy did not impress me.

So far not impressed with song choices

Make You Feel My Love was sung by Lea Michele on Glee in the episode that was a tribute to Finn/Corey Monteith. It was absolutely heartbreaking.

Lilli was horrid.

Agree about Lilli. But Brennley was brilliant, imo.

Yes, I didn’t expect to like Brennley’s performance, but did. It probably helps that I love that song.

Vanessa! wow. I think she won the night.
Song selection is so important.

Brennley and Vanessa were my favorites . I agree that it was not Lilli’ s best performance , she has been sick and at least she performed .

Brennley and Vanessa were also my favorites. I still voted for Lilli, too. Because she had been sick, I’m willing to giver her a pass this week.
It will be interesting to see whom the voters put in the bottom. I think Troy might be in danger.

Agreed, Lilli’s performance on NBC.com was terrible! The remastered and remixed version on iTunes sounds so much better. Jesse’s last third of his performance was where he really shined, which isn’t in the iTunes teaser. No more iTunes teasers for me before watching the show. Glad I don’t have to listen to the sugar coated coach comments on NBC.com at this stage. Total waste of air time, isn’t it? I am enjoying the 2 female country artists, Brennley and Lauren along with the 2 R&B/Soul artist, Chris and Vanessa, along with the 2 Indie/Pop artists, Hunter and Stephanie. Jesse is the stand alone to the aforementioned standout twosomes (for me) this season.

I think Lilli is definitely in trouble tomorrow night. I didn’t like Aliyah or Troy, but they are doing well on iTunes. Mark or TSoul could be joining Lilli in the bottom 2. Will post iTunes results tomorrow morning Pacific Time.

Both Brennley and Lauren could be in the iTubes Top-10 by the 9 AM cutoff time Tuesday morning. Right now they are #14 and #19 respectively.

Did Vanessa’s song send anyone else off to Youtube to watch Elliot Yamin’s American Idol rendition of A Song for You? It was a stunner, and still one of the best ever performances on a TV singing competition. (And it was 10 years ago-yikes!)

My favorite rendition of A Song for You is done by Colm Wilkinson. I’ve seen him sing it live, and his cd that it’s on is always in my car.

Everyone cracked the iTunes Top-200, as of 7 AM Pacific, except Jesse and Mark. The song One Dance was too rhythmically challenging for Mark, in my opinion. Let’s face it, he is no Drake. Jesse had one good moment towards the end of his performance, which wasn’t enough to overcome a poor song choice-- for a 2nd week in a row. Making it worse, he didn’t have his trademark home made and hand crafted guitar to shred on. He should not be such a big underdog at this stage, but 2 weeks of subpar performances and results has made him one. He is Adam’s most talented artist, imo. I would like to see Jesse only do songs that let him shred while singing the Blues. Songs by Freddy, Albert, and BB King come to mind. Elmore James, Robert Johnson, even Jimmy Hendrix! Coach Adam redeemed himself in recent seasons of mishandling his teammates but now seems to be guilty of it once again. Conceivably, all 3 from his team could be in jeopardy tonight.

Here are the current iTunes Top-200 rankings from last night, Monday 4/24:

Brennley Brown, long Long Time, #7
Lauren Duski, Lord I Hope This Day Is Good, #10
Hunter Plake, Somebody That I Used To Know, #16
Chris Blue, Love and Happiness, #27
Vanessa Ferguson, A Song For You, #40
Stephanie Rice, White Flag, #42
TSoul, Always On My Mind, #55
Aliyah Moulden, Heat Wave, #66
Troy Ramey, Free Fallin’, #77
Lilli Passero, Man! I Feel Like A Woman, #117

Is anyone seeing Jesse ranked around #47 on iTunes this week? A couple of PopVortex posters tell me he’s there but he is not showing up on my page even though I keep refreshing it.

I do not see Jesse on popvortex but he is #45 on this chart: http://www.doipod.com/itunes-charts/itunes-top-100-songs-usa/

Apologies… Jimi Hendrix.

Did not like adding the 5th chair. Was that to inject new life into the weakest component of the show? Everyone still plays nice so as not to affect the voting. (I think they each sign a pact at the start of every season!) It’s the same old powder puffery, only with a new face.

Lauren may have fallen out of the top-10 on iTunes and lost the multiplier. It won’t matter will it? Vanessa had an awesome performance but still only manages a #40 iTunes ranking at the cutoff. Such a great talent but she seems to have trouble getting fans to connect with her. For me, there are 3 “favorites” in no particular order: Brennley, Hunter, and Lauren. There are 3 close behind but are not with the front runners yet: Chris, Vanessa, and Stephanie. There are 2 long shots that will need to stage dramatic comebacks: Jesse and Lilli. One that is even a greater long shot than Jessie and Lilli: Troy. There is one very good artist that no one is talking about: TSoul. Except for Brennley, the young talent is showing their weaknesses: Aliyah and Mark (but to be fair both got handed terrible song choices).
