It appears there will not be Knockouts Part 2 tonight. Instead, there will be a “best of” (aka recap) show. I do not get this other than they didn’t want to go up against Halloween activity. After tonight, 2 more weeks of Knockouts then on 11/13 the Playoffs begin and there WILL be a coach’s comeback, where they bring back someone, but only one, from each team that was sent home previously.
I would have titled that show, “the worst of the season”. I hope no one new tuned in, because they won’t be back. It was all about the judges .
toledo, I didn’t even watch it and do not plan to. It is really dumb, imo, to have a one week break between Knockout 1 and 2. Talk about a momentum killer. I forgot about the World Series! That was probably why they did it in the first place. We SF Bay Area folks were raised to hate the Dodgers. The last (and only) time I ever rooted for them was when Sandy Koufax was pitching for them.
Just caught up after traveling. My team is in shambles, but have Ashland, Chloe and Chris in my top 3.
Tonight’s Knockout Round 2:
Team Adam-
Adam P. v. Emily
Dylan v. Jon
Team Blake-
Anna Catherine v. Mitchell
Kathrina v. Keisha
Team Miley-
Moriah v. Whitney
Team JHud-
Jeremiah v. Noah
I heard Emily’s iTunes teaser and she sounded awesome! Adam P. sounded like he gave a good but “conservative” performance. Coach Levine really likes Adam P. but he may have to pick Emily here-- imho. If he stays with Adam, Emily gets stolen, however could be a steal either way and, as such, might be tonight’s closing Knockout? Big fan of Noah. He is so artistic. He’s also off my team at the moment.
Tomorrow’s Knockout Round 3:
Adam-
Anthony v. Hannah
JHud-
Chris v. Katrina
Blake-
Megan v. Red
Wish I could watch these shows live!
Some good performances tonight. I have Brooke and Noah in my top three along with Chris, but I haven’t heard him sing lately. Emily was solid.
I momentarily forgot why I dropped Emily from my team. It was because they never showed her last performance, leading me to believe she will be eliminated shortly. The same thing has now happened with Jon. There are so many great contestants. I don’t know how I will get to my top 3.
I think we get to see the Playoff round before we have to narrow it down to three. I also wonder why they didn’t show Emily the last round or Jon this round. They are both very talented. Maybe the producers want to create an element of surprise like, “Wow, where did he/she come from?”
toledo - you’re right. i do like the singers this year; there are some good ones! sometimes i lose interest.
Emily: she’s only 24! i thought she was much older. and Moriah is only 16. i thought she was older too. My fave is still chloe from last week.
Just put Chloe back on my team again to replace Whitney.
Jon is in my top three and I was wondering what happened. I think they showed a short clip of him and moved on to the next pair.
Toledo, I dropped Emily for the same reason. Even though I thought her audition was one of the best. Frustrating!
Not loving many of the song choices on Monday, with the exception of Noah and Emily. I think Brooke has not matched her Blind performance with her Battle and, now, her Knockout performances. In the Battle and Knockout, felt like she was trying too hard. Ditto for Moriah. (Both on my team). Adam and Miley basically said the opposite. Adam said to Brooke “I’ll see you in the final”. Miley said "Moriah has a chance to win this competition ". Not with those song choices, that these artists picked themselves, imho.
Here are the iTunes top-200 from Monday night, at the moment:
Noah, Hold Back The River, 54
Emily, Glitter in the Air, 111
Mitchell, I’ll Be, 164
Keisha, I Hope You Dance, 176
Don’t forget to select your top-3 artists by next Thursday 11/16.
Emily appears to be letting her hair grow out, which may help her to look younger, but it did not look very good last night. I don’t know how long ago these shows were taped. If she makes it to the live shows, it will be interesting to see if her hair is a lot longer. I really like her voice.
musicmom1215, The top-12 were picked back in August. Unlike previous seasons, I believe the coaches select ALL 3 of their team from their remaining 6. In previous seasons the votes determined 2 and the coaches selected one, for each team of 3. I personally prefer this format better, heading into the Live Shows. There will be one coach comeback per team for an even 4-- 16 in total for the Playoffs. That is my understanding anyway. Back to Emily… I liked her hair (male perspective). Thought the new look took 10 years off her.
I just heard the teaser of Red’s Knockout performance. I really liked the song choice and think he may have won over Megan Rose. I like him better than Mitchell and now think he is Blake’s best male artist. I’m sure you ladies prefer looking at Mitchell, pitch problems and all…
The final night of the Knockouts is tonight. Enjoy!
Brooke really does not rock my world. First, I was annoyed that she referred to the song as Aretha Franklin’s. Yes, Aretha did a phenomenal version of it–watch the Kennedy Center honors performance if you haven’t seen it, just incredible–but it is Carole King’s song. I think she would have been better off if she had listened to Carole sing it, since no one can outdo Aretha on her own ground. (On a previous season someone did Killing Me Softly, and they called it the Fugees’ song. People, that is Roberta Flack’s song! Harumph!!) Secondly, I think her rendition was just mediocre.
Noah was great. I’m going to get of someone else and put him on my team. I already restored Emily. She is by far the best singer on pure singing chops on the show. That isn’t what wins, though.
I have never been a Mitchell fan and he hit some really bad notes more than once last night. I have never had him on my team.
I do think Emily’s longer hair makes her look years younger, and I like it, but something didn’t look right to me last night.
My son is a musician, and I first got to see Emily sing in one of the biggest dive bars in one of the most sketchy communities you can imagine several years ago. She was the first female lead singer in one of his bands, and though she left fairly quickly and was replaced by several other amazing ladies over time, none of them could hold a candle to her voice. It’s really astounding. However, even though it’s called The Voice, I don’t think it’s always just about the voice!
P.S. She is the second female lead from that same band to be on The Voice. It’s a good band!
Three nights next week.
Tough trying to figure out who gets left out of the top-12. Even tougher coming up with your and my top-3. I’m going to take a stab at who I think are each of the coach’s top 3 picks, giving little, if any, consideration to any comebacks:
Adam–
Adam C.
Addison (over Emily)
Jon
Emily had an absolutely awesome Knockout performance. Her exceptional vocal skills are undeniable. However, she couldn’t crack the iTunes top-100 this week, even with a spectacular performance. I think she just barely misses the cut. I think if it was based on votes, she’s in, but it’s not. I think coach Adam also feels more comfortable working with Adam C. and wants to beat Blake with a former team member that he got and then gave up on.
Blake–
Chloe
Keisha
Red
Jennifer–
Davon
Noah
Shi’Ann
Jennifer keeps Noah and Davon over Chris. She doesn’t have room for 2 R&B guys and she opts for an alternative artist, aka diversity, that gives her team a whole other dimension. With Davon, he has more room for growth with Jenn’s help. No way she cuts Shi’Ann loose. Putting Noah on my team, taking Chris off.
Miley–
Ashland
Brooke
Janice
Tough call, but I think she keeps Janice over Moriah, also giving her team diversity. Personally, I wish Moriah had waited a couple more years before coming on the show. The intriguing coach comeback could be Karli, especially if she is on the piano. Too little, too late, imo.
My top-3, as of right now:
Chloe
Jon
Noah
For me, the one that was hardest to leave out was Ashland.
The team I thought was strongest, Team Miley, is NOT represented in my top-3.
Emily has now cracked the iTunes top-100 this week. Here are early, at the “present time” (oldish time stamp), iTunes results for the week:
Noah, Hold Back The River, 50
Emily, Glitter in the Air, 99
Red, Outskirts of Heaven, 103
Keisha, I Hope You Dance, 167
Chris, I Put a Spell On You, 173
Mitchell, I’ll Be, 178
My current 8-person team and day totals:
Brooke 44
Moriah 37
Jon 30
Davon 27
Adam C. 27
Ashland 27
Chloe 9
Noah 1
1,242,000 points
Will finalize my top-3 after the Wednesday night show next week, before the Thursday deadline. Until then!
