Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

I liked how Chestina said Dez’s “versatility” was such a positive when most people consider it a big negative. I am inclined to think Dez will NOT be going home. His coach will probably take all the credit, others will assume the producers somehow control the outcome, but I think many fans of the show genuinely like him. I think Melanie is probably on the chopping block along with one “surprise”-- kind of a replay of last week’s results.

Here’s a different twist. Christina might have become so bored with the show that she is welcoming the elimination of her sole survivor. She might be more clever than her looks and behavior might indicate.

The teenage girls must be voting for Dez’s looks, because he is out of his league in every other way. I think Amanda can probably sing anything and I like her song choices because they are fresher, more interesting and more contemporary. I like Nicholas’ song choices the least. I love that Cody does everything so effortlessly. There should be a law against covering Freddie Mercury but I thought he handled it well.

I can live with the loss of Cody because at least Dez is gone. And Cody had the opportunity to really strut his stuff. There is no way he won’t have a career in entertainment. More bam bam to come.:)

^^

Was that a spoiler? If it was, it does seem to indicate that the voters start to get it right after the debacles at AGT that gave us a Dog and no horsie show, and that one note kicked and saved island girl in the X-Factor.

I hope you are right in that Dez and Cody are told Sayonara! Now onto Melanie, Terry, and Amanda! And then a nice ending.

Well, the show is over here in EST, so I am not psychic. :)

True, and one such time as being on the Left Coast is simply not “that” right. We get everything later, except budget shortfalls. ;)

The audience got it half right.

What? Cody’s out? I was just starting to like him. Glad Melanie made it but I didn’t like her performance last night. I’m still pulling for Trevin.

Yep, they were one week too late in sending Cody home. Dez was a no-brainer. His performance yesterday was just awful.

The iTunes downloads of each performance gets factored into the vote count times a multiplier of 10 (?) or so. I wonder how much of a factor that will be in deciding who wins? Although I didn’t care for Terry’s performance on Monday night, he did really well with the iTunes downloads. Speaking of Terry… I thought he was by far the best singer in his group performance, even though it wasn’t a classic rock number.

I wrote down the order in which the contestants were announced to have been “in.” I have not heard Carson say they announce in the order of most votes. Has anyone heard whether the announcement order is the order of the most votes?

As far as I can tell only Melanie and Trevin lack substantial professional singing experience. Cassadee has a lot with Hey Monday (along with a $50 million lawsuit by her former managers). I seem to recall one Hey Monday song even got a cover on Glee. Amanda has been a backup singer. Nicholas has a band/performed in Minn. Terry mentioned a recording contract and performing.

I think the itunes boost is going to play a substantial role in who makes the next cut.

“CAT” is my final 3…

Cassadee, Amanda, and Terry.

But, then again, what do I know. I picked Melanie to go home this week.

I’ve been thinking about this, and I don’t think it would be good for Trevin to win this. I think he needs some vocal training and maturation first. He definitely had some problems with the Whitney Houston song. I’m afraid he would blow out that glorious voice and get into trouble and/or be taken advantage of. I have the sense that if he does NOT win, Cee Lo will take him under his wing to some degree. I hope so, anyway.

For some reason, I don’ t have the same fear about Melanie, even though she is younger. She seems to be unusually mature. And she definitely has a strong sense of self! :)

I’d be happy to see any of the remaining singers win, except Cassadee. But I really want it for Terry, Amanda, and Nicholas.

I like Melanie but I can’t see her winning. Sometimes, her voice just isn’t strong enough.

07Dad, they haven’t said whether they are announcing the votes in order but I suspect they’re not. By this time in a competition, people have favorites and I suspect the vote wouldn’t change much from week to week. It would be pretty boring to read off the list every week if there was little change. I do think they try to get a favorite at the beginning and keep a favorite close to the end so people watch through the show.

You got to feel for Terry. It must be hard to split his time between The Voice and a role in Peter Jackson’s trilogy. :)

^^ xiggi High five! I think of that every time. Good thing he doesn’t wear green or leprechauns would be too obvious a comparison.

Amanda, great performer, but too screechy/scratchy.

Nicholas, beard gives me the creeps and what was up with the up hair last night? Gag.

I was sad Cody went home, he was/is entertaining.

Last night they “saved” the women first. Must have been ladies night.

I, too, wonder if Xtina will be different when she doesn’t have a man standing. Does she still have to phone it in?

Last year the winner was chosen from the final four. I think that was what was done the first season. Has anyone seen anything that changes that format this time around?

Personally, I’d like to have it cut down from 6 to 3 and then have a final selection come from 3.

:D I’ve been thinking he should have been cast in The Hobbit.

The Hobbit is Jackson’s latest trilogy. :)
