Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

I know. Maybe there’s still time. :)

FYI–as of now (a week since the last performance) Cassadee has 2 songs trending in the itunes top 50. She scored big on Billboard in the country field as well.

Melaine has 1 in the top 50. Nicholas and Amanda each have 1 in the top 100.

I am going to be completely disgusted if Cassadee wins this thing. Blech.

I think my parents would have felt the same about Elvis.

Um, no. Firstly, my mother loved Elvis. Secondly, Cassadee is NOT a mold-breaker. She’s a competent middle-of-the-road pro. She’s an anti-Elvis.

Ack. I fell asleep and missed Trevin Hunte’s first song!

You didn’t miss much, IMO. He sang “Walking on Sunshine” - it was okay, but nothing special. I think Amanda and Terry are the ones on fire tonight, so far.

Well I am pretty darned glad I didn’t miss his second song!

I agree that Amanda was spot on with her first song. Can’t wait to hear the next one. Terry is consistent, but there is something about him that lacks the star quality, IMO.

I like Terry. I kind of feel the same way about Trevin. There’s just something about him that lacks star quality. Just feel he might need more time to develop.

Amanda is the front runner imo.

I like Amanda too.

I hope the winner is either Nicholas,Terry, or Amanda (one of the old folk)!

Trevin’s voice is glorious, but he does not have the emotional maturity needed for that song. Also, he started at the top and had no room to work up to a climax. He has a gorgeous instrument but doesn’t know what to do with it yet. He’s also very pedestrian onstage. He can’t move. He needs training and time. (Watching him tonight, I wondered if he has ever had any exposure to opera…and what he might turn into with that kind of training.)

Terry showed something emotional and immediate tonight, in addition to his laser-like voice. His best night yet. (Also, what is it with that bimbo in the skybox? She doesn’t have any hobbit in her “yet”? Inadvertently hilarious.)

Melanie, I love you but it’s time to go home. You already have a following and will do well.

Cassadee, ho hom, more of the same. Go home.

Nicholas, a strange and wonderful man.

Amanda, you rule.

Can’t we puhleeze ban “And I’m Telling You” (especially chopped up 2-minute versions) from all vocal competition shows? Another request: makeup people, find something that will keep Trevin and Nicholas from sweating profusely after singing just one song. It’s gross.

I’ve enjoyed many of this season’s contestants, but when it comes to the acid test of deciding whose music I would pay for, Nicholas wins by a landslide.

I am really afraid he won’t win, but I think there is only one exceptional talent in this competition. See below.

Melanie was crazy to do that Gnarl’s song. Someone without much if a voice trying to imitate a singer who is arguably the best vocalist around? The only thing dumber would be if Adam tried it. Crazy.

The Hobbit? Getting really tired of him and his look. Scotland is calling.

Cassadee? Humm, the same old every week. She could join Amanda and form a formidable duo to support a talented singer. They are background singers. Terry Fator could outsing them with Emma Taylor, if singing counts. Not screaming.

Trevin? He is good. Every bit as the previous winners, but he will soon be forgotten.

And that leaves us --or better said me-- with the iconoclast and utterly different hippie. I have usually little love for the people who still live in the sixties and look like THAT, but this show is called the VOICE, and that is Nicholas.

The Tweens won’t let it happen, but this show should not reward screamers and background singers.

Anyway, Melanie will go home.

I sure wouldn’t have paid for Nicholas’s opening song and delivery. The chorus totally drowned him out.

Nicholas’s voice is too nasal. Can we say adenoidectomy?

No, WE cannot say words we can’t spell nor pronounce without help? Ah, those doctors!

OK-- how about T&A?

Tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy. Or the other one. Your choice.

:)

My favorite after tonight is Amanda. I think my least favorite is Nicholas. I just find him and his song choices boring. I don’t find anything appealing about him. He’s got a little of the back of the throat guttural sound that I really dislike - reminds me a bit of Dave Matthews, whose voice I really hate.
