I like to watch, but I don’t play.
Thanks, @jshain. I just downloaded the app and am going to do my best to try and keep up with the experts here. I’ve read along with the thread every season. I think I’m in the minority when I say I am glad Miley is not a judge - I prefer Gwen. Kelly gets on my nerves but I’m hoping with Adam gone the dynamics will change. My favorite part is the blinds.
Ditto, jym.
I went and listened to all the new artists on YouTube. There seems to be more uniqueness and artistry this season, similar to that of American Idol. I will be curious to see if I still feel that way after watching the Blinds. The other thing that stood out for me was the amazing guitar work from several of these artists.
Here is the first sneak peek of a Blind from S17:
Reminder! Season 17 starts tonight. Tune in or record (I record). Enjoy the show!
I just got 500 points for answering a question. They didn’t used to tell you how many points you got for questions.
How do I register to vote?
I haven’t been on CC since they changed the format. I still don’t like it so I may not be back.
I played along on the app tonight and I find it so distracting. It’s like I was looking at my phone instead of the TV so I wouldn’t miss a chance to answer a question and get points. Reminds me of video-taping my kids’ programs at school and having to watch the whole thing on a tiny screen. I feel I missed a lot! So. I may abandon the app, too.
The new format reminds me of being back in school and it’s quiz time! That being said, I think points have always been earned from getting the trivia questions correct and this season they are just being upfront about it. musicmom1215, I hated the new CC format when it first came out— same as you. But, you WILL get used to it just as I did.
Overall, this might have been the ‘softest’ season premiere ever. My favorite was Rose Short, the 37-year-old corrections officer. I was shocked she did not get 4 chairs to turn, only turning Kelly and Gwen (who turned late).
I found myself really distracted by the app and several times it wouldn’t accept my trivia responses or told me “You missed that one” when I hadn’t! Don’t know that I’ll be playing along for very long. I was surprised to like Will.
I stream the show so I can watch live, watching on my phone using earbuds or headphones. I play along using my iPad. (I do record it but rarely rewatch the show twice.)
This ‘new’ format on the App is interesting. I still think the points calculations are unchanged from before and that the new component is with ‘Your Points History’. Here was my breakdown of points:
Daily App Visit 2,500
Correct Trivia Answers 13,500
Tweeted a Coach 3,500
Played Along with the Show 20,000
Artist Roster 4,500
Tweeted an Artist 3,500
Social Share 24,500
Poll Participation 2,000
(Total Points 74,000, #1 after first night)
I have been curious to know just how many points were available from Tweeting. It appears to be 7,000 points per show, which is a fairly significant number. Being on the West Coast is (finally) an advantage because I can see which coach gets an artist before the show airs out here (Edit: using a Voice BLOG, not using NBC.com)— which I happened to make note of so those answers to those questions were not guesses for me.
Loved Will’s duet!
Congratulations on #1 jshain. I’m 647. My method last year worked so I’ll try it again. Put everyone on your team until it’s full and then start replacing with people you think will get to the finals.
I don’t just sit and watch the show so having something to do as well keeps it more entertaining. I missed a lot of questions about who the contestants would choose as coaches.
It doesn’t seem like everyone will want just one coach this yea which is nice.
I did not miss Adam in the slightest.
Ha - I’m at 999+! Clearly no threat. Great job, @jshain.
musicmerit is the ‘one to watch out for’. She wins almost every season… without tweeting.
I think Blake is a little off his game without Adam. A friend of mine just posted a video of Blake performing at a private party he attended yesterday(?) up in Napa. No Gwen, however. She’s probably back in LA preparing her team.
I am 999+ With 31,500 points. I added everyone to my team as placeholders for now. I missed answering some questions and got some wrong. I did not do well selecting the coach they would pick.
1,500 daily app visit
4,500 correct trivia
20,000 play along with show
4,500 artist roster
1,000 poll participation
Tonight I am not able to listen but will play along with the app.
I watched Tuesday night but did not play along with the app because I was busy holding my 5-month-old grandson! So, I will probably ditch the app. Was 999+ place with 33000 after the first night.
I did well at first in picking the coaches because they were showing a little “bio” of the contestant before the poll. The bio listed their favorite musical artist and I picked the judge who most closely related to that artist. But then they quit showing the bio or the bio had different info and I did not end on a successful note.
musicmom, Sounds like you have your priorities in the correct order! I think they are really sandbagging artists this season. I was underwhelmed for the most part in night 2. Next week is almost guaranteed to be good…
