Is "The Voice" Your New Vice?

Last year there was already standout talent and the first night gave us a lot of the top people. I haven’t seen anyone yet that remarkable. When I see they’re over 30 I know that if they haven’t made it there is a reason for it. They haven’t had the usual parade of contestants yet.

I’m not loving this season and that makes me sad. Gwen and John add little entertainment value to the judges’ panel, and none of the contestants has really done much for me yet. :frowning:

Interesting, musicmom…I thought this was the best Blind so far.

I like not having Adam however Gwen doesn’t really have much to say other than the same ‘singing with emotion’ comment over and over…

Anyone get all the trivia questions? I missed 2~ the one about how many mystery Blinds so far and how o,d was Jake Hoot when he moved to DR.

I seem to like the contestants that no one else does - I’m already having a difficult time distinguishing them. The app is too much of a distraction for me plus I’m absolutely terrible at it! I’m still going to watch but not going to “play”. I haven’t really loved anyone yet.

There have been some talented singers. I guess I’m just waiting to be blown away. Maybe I just haven’t heard the right combination of voice and song. It takes two or three auditions for me to decide which ones I like. I do agree with the ones who did NOT get a chair turn. I wouldn’t have turned for them either.

I gave up on the app. Would rather wash dishes during commercials than be glued to my phone! LOL

I did not understand how they calculated the number of blinds so far. I thought each hour was one. But then didn’t know if they were counting the current one.

I bumped up to the 300s mainly due to filling my team the first two shows and keeping them. I have 7 on deck to replace any that leave.

missed it last night :frowning: but recorded it. Who should I listen out for?

jym, Preston C. Howell, the 14-year-old kid who closed the show. On YouTube, he sings a Marc Anthony song in Spanish. Check him out!

Overall, thought last night was the weakest Blind of all. NBC is definitely back loading the talent for the final weeks, imho.

I saw him a few weeks ago at the US Open; he performed America the Beautiful.

Other than him, I agree, the rest of the episode was pretty lackluster.

I know nothing about this show, but the twins are from a town near us, so a lot of people i know are psyched for them.

garland, Dane and Stephanie had a very good audition— turning both John Legend and Blake Shelton’s chairs. They chose John to be their coach and they should be in good hands with him.

I watched the first 3 nights of blinds over the last 2 days. The person who stands out for me is Mendeleyev.

I haven’t looked at the app yet this season, and I think I might just go without it.

Unlike everyone else, I’ve been enjoying Gwen. And I love her outfit. I like the mix of personalities.

Thanks for the heads up @jshain and @skieurope. I am watching the masked singer tonight. As I said previously, its kitchy but fun.

I watched the masked singer for the first time tonight. Kinda fun, but I don’t know celebrities enough to pick up on the clues. I did guess the Panda, though.

I also think Mendeleyev is one to watch!

For some reason, Australia likes to import US (and UK) celebs for their various reality competition shows; Ricky Martin, will.i.am, the Madden brothers, Joe Jonas, Kelly Rowland, Seal, among others, have all been coaches on the Voice Australia. Anyway, the Masked Singer AU premiered last week with Lindsay Lohan as a judge. Now most Americans have no clue about Aussie celebs unless they’re international superstars (think Keith Urban, Hugh Jackman). Nobody has ever accused LL of being the sharpest tool in the shed, so it’s been quite amusing listening to Lindsay’s guesses and even more hilarious in the unmaskings to look at her face and realize she has no idea who these people are.

Finally watched #4. I liked James Violet a lot.

I think this season has some very creative (male) artists, including Mandalayev and James Violet. The other very creative artist I am looking forward to seeing audition (he posted on YouTube that he auditioned for the show already), is Ricky Duran. He might just be my favorite male artist this season.

First time I’ve opened this thread. I don’t watch a lot of TV and never been a follower of the music shows but I heard on the news that two locals from my area are on the Voice. I u tubed both Will and Mendeleyev and thought both were great. I know Mendeleyev as “Lev” which is easier to say and spell. I have never heard him sing and I was blown away by how talented he is.

mom60, I will start calling him ‘Lev’ also… since I can not seem to spell his name correctly, either.
