I was really surprised that Josie did not win that battle. I thought she was 100 times better than that other little girl. Not even close. But hey, what do I know?
musicmom, On the Voice App the viewers voted it a draw.
I did not like any of these opening night Battles. I didn’t think any were collaborative enough, especially compared to last couple of seasons.
Kelly has now told FOUR different artists so far that they could win this season.
I had the other little girl Kat on my team only because I filled my team the first two shows. I was sure she would be gone. I also had Shane and was not sure he would move on either. Some of the trivia questions are ridiculous. I missed the sign hanging in the restaurant interview, but guessed correctly on the siblings names question.
I did not lose anyone last night and bumped up into the 100s.
Musicmerit, Are you ready to do a team reveal yet?
Sure. My team is from the first two nights.
Kat, Katie, Jake, Will, Brennan, Rose, Alex, Marina, Kyndal all at 22 days
Shane Q, Max, and Hello Sunday at 21 days.
I really liked Zoe so she’ll be my first replacement.
Also on deck in no particular order are Khalea, Ricky, and Ricky, Matt, Jared, Brooke and Joana.
Coaches only get one save and one steal? Is that per round? I was surprised at all the saves and attempted steals on the first night. Do you think most of the coaches are pairing their strongest contestants with their weakest contestants and then are surprised by the ones they thought were weakest?
toledo, Yes, only one Save and one Steal in the Battle Round AND then ONLY one STEAL in the Knockout Round. I think the coaches each get to bring back one of their eliminated artists this season.
Here is my team and days:
Katie 22
Rose 22
Jake 22
Will 22
Brennan 22
Shane Q 21
Max 21
Cory 21
Marybeth 15
Preston 14
Ricky D. 8
Khalea 7
All max day artists…
The voice or the Democratic Debate?? The voice!!
Katie and Destiny’s battle, singing Elton John, was incredible!
There are many good singers this year, but Katie is one of those that I can’t wait to hear what she does next.
Katie and Destiny (only saw the clip so far). Finally, the first COLLABORATIVE Battle after 2 nights!
Musicmom, Is there anything Katie CANNOT sing? I want to hear her sing some Janis, and I’m not talking Ian, but she could sing her also I truly believe. Front runner…
Agreed.
Having gotten rid of the Comeback Stage, I now wish the production team would get rid of the cannon fodder of the montages.
^Now if they would just get rid of the Block and let these competitors choose who THEY want to be their coach. Another example of the show being more about the coaches than the singers…
I don’t mind a little back story on the singers. Shorter would be good, but knowing a bit about them makes it interesting.
The backstory I don’t mind, although I can do without the “you should were more jewelry” advice. No, I’m taking about the Carson Daly voiceover “Also battling out on Team Legend…” with the 10 second clip of the performance.
I don’t think tonight was as strong as last week, but the talent this year is very good.
I was disappointed with the show tonight, with the ‘obvious’ exception of Ricky Duran and Marina Chello. I do NOT get how Gwen chooses Kyndal over James Violet. If she had chosen James and not saved Kyndal, I’m not sure Kyndal would have been stolen by any of the other coaches.
I don’t get the lavish praise for Joana Martinez. Yes she has a big voice, incredible range, and great confidence for a 15-year-old— but her tone is not good and she had pitch issues in her Blind and again tonight in her Battle. I do not get how she picked Blake as her coach, when both Kelly and Gwen also turned for her.
Ricky Duran is incredible. To me, he is clearly Blake’s top seed, and I see him in the Finals, and I think Blake will coach him well.
Agree about Ricky. I don’t really like Marina, though, so was surprised with the save.
Fire and Rain- made me appreciate James Taylor even more. Only my opinion -some songs are so iconic/personal/heartbreaking that unless you can knock it out of the park, don’t even try.
