I was disappointed to see Christina wearing another tacky dress. Until then she had really improved her look over last year–not just the weight loss, but also more natural make-up and more flattering clothing. I do see from the previews that next week she’ll be wearing something casual, and it looks great. I don’t know why she can’t see that she looks far more beautiful when she tones it down and wrestles the girls into submission.

I have to respond to catreta45’s characterization of Christina’s vocal knowledge as being limited to money notes and runs. She knows those are what sells, and she knows she does them better than anyone else, so she relies on them a lot, but she’s actually far more versatile than that, and her range is amazing. Take a listen to her version of I Love You Porgy:

I don’t always agree with her choices (musically or sartorially), but I think she’s the most talented female singer alive. When I listen to her sing “The Voice Within” I’m slain every time.

I liked the songs this week compared to last week, can’t wait for the battles to be over with. I am not too fond of battle ground format especially when it sounds like yelling, not fun.

I have to agree about Cee lo, he doesn’t sound genuine. And orange makes it worse. I miss Usher and Shakira, they brought the energy to the show.

I am watching! Agree with comments on Christina’s peek-a-boob shirt, she was so classy until that, and her voice is more phenomenal the more I see her. And Cee-lo … Part of me is not surprised and part of me worry that because he is famous he is more easily set up, but I can’t help but think about it now when I see him on the show.

Also, no favorites yet, but the battle round doesn’t allow them to showcase their own style and choices enough, so I will wait. I will be surprised if the Apple geek has more up his sleeve still; I worry that he has already shown his best possible cards, but as a computer geek, I am rooting for him. There are so many really good ones, I want many of them to get more air time.

Great! After the annoying kneel down of last season, now we have a silly leg kick. At least, there is someone to root for an early exit in a sea of “who cares”

This season is unimpressive. And we have a real cruise ship singer.

Agree… Christina opened the new season with a bang and tonight she was at her wardrobe worst. Let’s call it a Michael Booble knock-off that was a total bust. Tonight, she should have just worn what she had on during the rehearsal.

Xiggi, I agree with you, so far, at least through the first four knockouts…

Xiggi, do me a favor and me give me a break with the Michelle snark. She didn’t win, isn’t that enough for you? :D

I was not wildly impressed by anyone last night, although I did like the long-haired guy who played the guitar. At least he wasn’t screeching and singing as loudly as he possibly could, like most of the rest. I think they need to give the Kelly Clarkson power ballads a rest.

I really do not like Shelby Z. I liked Brianna Cuoco much better, and think she could be MUCH more interesting in the long run, although her song choice last night was unwise to say the least.

Oh, I am sure that some will sound better as soon as all the drama subsides. I just do not think that there is a clear frontrunner and a couple of close ones as there was last year.

It’s all subjective, and there are some candidates that simply annoy me. Either for the constant screaming, the “rocker” style, or simply for the weird presence on stage. Ask Consolation about what I mean there. :)

PS On the other hand, I like to pick a “weird” one a la Nicholas from a few years back. The bearded guy who switched to Blake is interesting, as he shows to be daring with his song choices. Remember the Jefferson’s theme. I think this will be the season of the dudes, and that the ladies will be shortlived.

But who knows, there is a lot of forced harakiri imposed by the judges.

I haven’t been swept away by anyone so far, but I also enjoyed the bearded guy who performed his own song on acoustic guitar last night. Wish he’d cut that hair and shave or trim that beard.

Tonight there were some great performances. I missed the first one (or two), but I loved Caroline Pennell and Will Champlin. There were several others who were really promising.

I also liked Paul Vosbury in last night’s knockout rounds and would add Jacquie Lee (Team Christina) to the mix of standouts already mentioned during tonight’s show.

I was disappointed to see MOWC’s neighbor go home. I understand that Adam thought the guy could go further based on his performance in rehearsals, but I thought Juhi delivered the better actual performance. I also like the other 16 year old, Jacquie Lee, and think she will do well in the live rounds.

I also enjoyed the bearded guy who performed his own song on acoustic guitar last night.

I think you may be talking about Cole Vosbury? He didn’t sing his own song - he sang “Let Her Go,” a Passenger song. Adam mentioned that it was a song “no one knows” - but I knew all the lyrics, so I have to have heard it on the radio more than a few times. I do listen to CBC Radio 2 (Canadian station), so maybe I heard it there …

And I also like him - I think he has a cool voice.

I hate screaming voices, and I get annoyed when the audience goes nuts over a big note … like it somehow erases the fact that the rest of the song wasn’t so great. I much prefer the males this season, although I like Caroline - and a couple of the other females have promise.

I enjoy The Voice so much. It’s just fun - no real drama, and lots of fun to watch. I stopped watching American Idol and X Factor long ago, but The Voice is one I am sticking with.

I’m another one that didn’t understand why “Let her go” was described as an obscure song. I recognized it right away and thought it had gotten quite a bit of air play. I listen to Satellite radio more than a local channel but most of the music I hear there goes to regular FM stations. I agree about liking the guys more than the girls this season.
