Ryan was saved? I prefer Jessie.

I’m pretty sure voiting ends at noon EST. ETA: Yep… http://www.nbc.com/the-voice/vote/rules

I got Jessie and Reagan reversed. Based on itunes at 8:30 am this morning, I thought it would be Sugar, Ryan and Reagan in the bottom 3.

How do you all feel about the “wild card” gimmick announced tonight?

I’ve got to say, I was ready to send Craig home several weeks ago, but this week I think he was really good.

^Thanks Jonri…

We might not have seen the last of Jessie or Sugar since there will be a wild card save of the top 12, with 4 eliminated singers vying for one wild card spot, using viewer votes. Hope I got this right. Personally, I would like to see them open up the competition for the save to the top-20 and not just the top-12. That way, someone like James David Carter, Taylor Phelan, or Elyjuh would have another shot!

Yes, I am cranky, jshain, and not because its a lumpy mattress. It’s a nice mattress, and I would like to spend another three hours on it!

I don’t think Gwen was drinking. She has said she is nursing, so maybe it’s the hormonal thing. Or maybe she was excited about performing. It was an interesting twist on the wild card save.

Re: the new wild card. I like it … It gives voters a chance to vote someone back on that we all assumed would sail through ( and so didn’t vote).

I am glad Luke made it. He is one of my favorites and he just had a blip at the beginning of his performance. His face on Monday was so sad, but he has to learn to not show it, but then again maybe that’s what made people feel sad for him and vote. Regardless, I would go see him sing at a small, intimate venue any day. He can make any song amazing.

Matt … Can you can recording contract tomorrow? That is a perfect voice.

Reagen is so talented for 16, but I am thinking she is getting votes for her potential and not for where she is today.

I am also pleased that my church singer guy made it … Yes, he can perform anyway he wants with a music soul like that. I would actually go to church to see him sing.

And Anita … I have not been to Jamaica but I love her. I feel the music when she sings and she hits all the emotional notes just right (unlike cutie-pie Ryan who will always get the tween vote).

The problem with the wild card save is none of the 4 eligible should win. It looks like a gimmick to me to keep viewers around.

My wife stops watching the Voice after the top 12 are decided. She finds the last part of a season to be less interesting, i haven’t checked the ratings but I think the ratings are highest when coaches are choosing their teams.

dstark, Your wife is correct. The show losses some energy when the live rounds begin and I think the coaches comments has a lot to do with this. Their praise of each and every artist, no matter the performance, hurts the show during the live rounds. For that reason I would love to see then not be able to comment on their own teammate’s performances.

Just ran into my favorite contestants dad. Sure, they’re disappointed, but very happy she made it so far. Just hoping her career gets a big boost from this. Interesting tidbits of information.

Okay, I will shock the thread by saying I’ve never seen the Voice before, ever. But I did happen to catch it the other night. There was a singer named Jesse, and I thought that while she was very pretty, her performance was embarrassingly bad. She was incredibly off key. D2 was in the room and said, “OMG that poor girl. How humiliating!” Reading some of your comments here, I thought, well, maybe I was too harsh. I just re-watched her performance again, and it was as bad as I remembered, starting at about 1 minute in. Yet the judges were very complimentary to her, and actually, to everyone. Do they never offer harsh criticism? I haven’t watched American Idol in a while, but all of the judges were very critical of pitch problems. It seems every singer who performed was told how wonderful they were. Is this how the show usually goes?

Agree about the coaches’ comments. I record and watch later so I fast forward through their responses…the few times I’ve listened it always seems like a waste of time. I’d speed it up even more…take comments from only two of the judges on each singer. I wonder if they keep the comments positive because they don’t want a brutally honest critique to skew the public voting…then all the judges would be finding fault to influence voting against their competitors.

Had the same reaction to Jesse and Ryan too…it’s not singing that’s keeping him in the competition.

The coaches have great critiques at first, once they go live it turns into a victory lap for every singer. There were a lot of pitch problems Monday night. I think the first 3 were so bad I wondered if I was listening to the same thing as the judges. It took hearing a good one to confirm it wasn’t me.

Nrdsb4, AI judges are more critical because they are not coaching a team with a vested interest in winning. However, even the AI judges “play nice” once the field shrinks to around 10. Probably, as suggested, so that voters don’t get swayed-- on both shows. It would be interesting to hear what guidelines the Voice brass give the coaches with regard to any negative comments towards the other teams’ artists. There is probably a reciprocal agreement to keep it positive. It will be interesting when Christina Aguilera returns… she doesn’t always play nice.

^^^Okay, that makes sense. I didn’t even know that the singers were on teams (literally was my first time, and I wasn’t watching as much as listening since I was putting up a Christmas tree).

WHAT!! It’s not Thanksgiving yet!!!

Leaving that aside, Chestina is outright bitchy about other teams’ performers. I did hear some constructive criticism last night. Blake is perhaps the worst offender in the overpraising-my-team category.

Gwen did look especially beautiful last night.

Consolation, Maybe motherhood has mellowed her… or, maybe it’s made her WORSE!

Yes, but it is Dallas! It seems that almost immediately after the Texas-OU game, the city wants Christmas to come soon. By November, a trip to Northpark Mall (proudly being the first mall in the US) becomes a slugfest of green and red as most lady shoppers feel compelled to wear that ubiquitous Christmas sweater. Walking Neiman Marcus catalogs … some might say.

For the record, we always had a couple of Christmas trees in our house well before Thanksgiving. It goes down for the Three Reyes when we get the last batch of gifts. The beauty of being a kid in an “international” family is that we get spoiled starting with St Nicolas on Dec 6 all the way to the epiphany. Too bad it will end soon!

Oh yes, this is The Voice thread. Although I have been unimpressed by this year, I have to admit that last week show was a lot better than the previous ones I listened to. I also have to relunctantly admit that Adam has compiled his way into the best team and that Blake did not do too well with his choices. Gwen was as good as Shakira, and that says it all. Although she will go far with the crazy voting system, I do not understand the attraction of Anita Antoinette. She makes the “scripted” production of the show apparent. She is the second coming of Melanie Amaro.

No, not Dallas. My D was asked if she would allow her quaint little cottage in her college town to be in a Holiday Home Tour, which benefits a charity. The home tour occurs the first week of December, and I won’t have a chance to go out there and help her get it ready in the days immediately before the tour, so I had to do it when I had the chance.

I rarely decorate my Dallas home for Christmas before December 10th or so.

:)
