Is there a difference between functions and calculus

I’m not sure if this question belongs here since this is my first post. I was wondering are functions and calculus the same thing? One of the prerequisite for the university I’m transferring to is functions and vectors but I haven’t taken neither but a mate of mines assures me that they’re just calculus and precalculus is that right?

From what I’ve seen, most classes that are called “functions and vectors” (or something similar) are usually equivalent to a pre-calculus course.
