bthomp: This is really interesting. Thanks for finding it.

It’s gratifying to see that 96% + of students would recommend the program. And there were areas of strength as well al some ares of improvement as well.

The most interesting data from this report, was that pointed out by bthomp… ie lower than desirable levels of skill as judged by professors.

It’s important to note that the 96% number cited came from only 61.3% of graduates who returned the survey. Surveys with that low a return rate are virtually useless.

Those who understand the statistical science behind interpreting surveys will recognize that any random response survey with a response rate below 80% suffers from an inherent non-response bias and its results are far less statistically valid. The choice to respond is not random and carries meaning in and of itself.

Since roughly 40% of grads didn’t even care enough to return this survey about their own school, one can not draw any meaningful conclusions from the positive number cited for satisfaction.

Since college alumni are typically some of the most positively-biased folks you’ll meet regarding their chosen schools, a 40% non-return rate on a graduate exit survey is telling in and of itself.

Not certain about the survey. It is true that the higher the response rate the higher the accuracy. If it was via Mail or email the 61% is remarkably high. The industry I work in, if we obtain a 10% response it is a good day. Just doesn’t specify how the survey was administered.

Anyway, I appreciate that they made the effort to identify deficits and are taking steps toward “CQI”. Additionally, we don’t know if the Bloomington campus is undergoing the same 4 year review?

Again, thanks to Bthomp for the information. Kelley Indianapolis is going to great lengths to maintain and improve quality. This report saw some areas to improve and they are acting upon them.

Big Pharma surveys are not comparable to college exit surveys given to a graduating class of 305 kids. 119 IUPUI grads chose not to respond. For a targeted audience survey with known affinity, 61% is a poor result in any universe regardless of delivery medium. Statistically, it makes the resulting data almost useless. Perhaps that’s why the report cites no error rate or mode data.

The recruitment statistics and regional salary results are now being published on the Kelley Indianapolis website. You will find a 93% placement rate overall and 97% for Accounting at IUPUI. Which I believe are very comparable to IUB.
Also, If you look at salary for the Indianapolis area (where a lot of Kelley Indianapolis kids live) they are the similar as well. I think about 1700$ less than IUB on average.
Kelley Direct is an online MBA program, so I don’t know why you care about location. However, I think you may be confused since you said freshman.
Your transfer questions are best directed to Kelley, so call them.
IUB is the better choice for undergrads due to national recognition and recruiting. (Take the shill posts to the contrary with a grain of salt since lots transfer from IUPUI, but few if any transfer into IUPUI.)
Of course if you live in and want to stay in Indy, IUPUI may be for you.
So, this thread is renewed. I wish it wasn’t. @IUBOOS helps a lot of people and a good poster. But my guess is that they are either from Chicago suburbs or New Jersey, convinced their parents to pay for them to go to Bloomington and and has a very high level of belief that IUB is somehow different and better than the same school at Kelley Indianapolis.
Even though they know nothing about Kelley Indianapolis. The Chicago suburbanites are known for this. Not sure why. They even get personal by calling others names like "shills’ when it’s not what they want to hear, its really strange.
Please do your own research @MrAccountant. To the same extent that I advocate for both Kelley schools, (look at what they both accomplish). Look out for others who will dissuade you from looking at both. You will see in my posts that the placement at Kelley Indianapolis is more Midwest, but there is appeal to this.
If you are going into finance and eventually want a family, you surely understand the difference between Indianapolis (or Cincinnati, Louisville etc.) versus NYC or Chicago. And what that means for quality of life.
I have direct knowledge of both schools. I just think that Kelley Indianapolis is a great choice for International Students because of it’s urban setting. At least as good as IUB.
96% placement rate at Kelley Indianapolis. 95% at IUB. Both are world class.
I went back to and read your post #111 and it sounds like you eventually wish is to end up at IUB. And you are not direct to either. So, to answer you direct question. Go to IUB and do well so that you wont have to transfer .You will love the campus vibe at IUB.
