Is there a prettier song? (cont'd.)

Continuing on with a thread from a couple of years ago. :slight_smile:

[Peter, Paul and Mary - Don’t Think Twice](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xu-DWUngjhk)

That was a great thread. The song Halleluja, new to me at the time, was discussed there. Wow… I’ve heard it many times since and remember the thread. There are many versions - here’s one <a href=“Hallelujah (shrek song) Best version! - YouTube”>Hallelujah (shrek song) Best version! - YouTube;

Heard this one the other day and thought of the old thread, can’t remember if I posted back then. Kids, college, leaving home never to return…get out the Kleenex

Tom Rush, Childs’s Song
<a href=“Tom Rush - Child's Song - YouTube”>Tom Rush - Child's Song - YouTube;

The NYT crossword sent me to listen to Anna Laurie. That’s a pretty song: <a href=“The Corries --- Annie Laurie - YouTube”>The Corries --- Annie Laurie - YouTube;

<a href=“Wazimbo "Nwahulwana" - YouTube”>Wazimbo "Nwahulwana" - YouTube;

Mwahulwana - Orchestra Marrabenta Star De Mocambique

Two Beatles’ classics I will listen to for the rest of my life:

Michelle

Yesterday

Norah Jones:

The Nearness of You

Then there are the Classical classics:

Debussy, Clair de Lune

Puccini, Mio Babbino Caro

Satie, Gymnopedies

Really, this question is a bit broad! My top 10 list has about 100 songs on it.

I Hope You Dance-Lee Ann Womack (and I’m not even a country fan)

Turn Around by Harry Belafonte

Looking for Space by John Denver

Scarborough Fair by Simon and Garfunkel

Almost anything by Peter, Paul and Mary, but Don’t Think Twice always seemed a bit sad to be pretty.

Just heard Enrique Granados’ Valses Poeticos. Makes my list–particularly the second one, a melody that recurs through the piece.

The composer himself in 1913 on a piano roll: http://youtu.be/U2gLjXWzkD8</a></p>

I have so many favorites dating back to La cie darem la mano from Don Giovanni through How You Look Tonight by Kern/Fields but to highlight a few people may not know well:

Jem’s version of Cold Play’s Yellow
This Moment by Nic Chagall featuring vocal by Jonathan Mendelsohn. I sometimes put this on repeat and go for a walk.

Listened to this (Beethoven Symphony No. 7, 2nd movement) in a house where Beethoven lived in Vienna (I think the house was the inspiration for “Beethoven Lives Upstairs”). Powerful. (And a great viola part!)

Aqui Sigo

My new obsession is this Ed Sheeran song.
<a href=“Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud (Official Music Video) - YouTube”>Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud (Official Music Video) - YouTube;

Jessica’s Theme (Breaking the Colt) from the movie, The Man From Snowy River.

There are just so many.
