Is there a word...

I’m trying to describe the smiley face on an instant message by saying that it lacks human element. Is there a word that can describe this? A word similar to non-living. Also, can I also describe it as digital? Is there a better word to take the place of the “electronical” characteristic of smilely faces?

Also, how should I describe the hugs and kisses? Typed hugs and kisses?

Here is what I have in my speech: “Would you rather spend your time expressing your human elements of laughter, love, and compassion through face-to-face conversations, hugs and kisses, and walks in the park or through the _____ smiley faces and ____ hugs and kisses of quick and simple instant messaging?”

Inanimate smiley faces?

Virtual hugs and kisses?

hugs and kisses = xoxoxoxoxoxoxox

“Would you rather spend your time expressing your human elements of laughter, love, and compassion through face-to-face conversations, hugs and kisses, and walks in the park or through the inanimate smiley faces and the X and O hugs and kisses of quick and simple instant messaging?”

Here is what I have in my speech: “Would you rather spend your time expressing your human elements of laughter, love, and compassion through face-to-face conversations, hugs and kisses, and walks in the park or through the electronic smiley faces and emotionless hugs and kisses of quick and simple instant messaging?”

Impassive? Deadpan?

the official word for “virtual faces” is emoticons…if you want to sound smarter.

I think I will use virtual smiley faces and emotionless hugs and kisses.

However, for the hugs and kisses, do you think the college students and, more importantly, adults would know what the hugs and kisses are?

Should I say emotionless star hugs star and star kisses star? or what?? Thanks for your help guys! :D

Also, instead of vision “problems.” What word could I use to replace “problems” with? I’m talking reduction in vision. I know know how to say that. Vision depletion? Vision ____

inanimate?
insensate?

decay of vision?
exhaustion of vision?
fading vision?
deterioration of vision?

Vision recession?
Vision deterioration?

A round yellow clump of pixels which, due to apophenia, humans perceive as smiling. :)

Why are you doing this project anyway? Is your school still going? In the middle of July?

Just curious.
