Is there any SHAME in getting associate's degree when you got a BA?

Is there any SHAME in getting associate’s degree when you got a BA?

I just got my BA, but want to get an associate degree in a different field so soon. I feel like they’re going to give me the whole, “didn’t you plan your college life out?” ordeal.

I went through a life change, and want a career change, but it’s only now that i realize it. Should i be ashamed?

nope. if its not making a comfortable living or making you happy somehow, then its time for a change.

who other than yourself is judging? and if you care about whoever else might be judging then you should probably go ask that person to write out your life plan so that you don’t have to ever be ashamed.

Nope. Perhaps the best thing that most CC do is training / retraining in technical fields. Go for what you want…

Nope! More power to you! I would have gotten my AA but a stupid nutrition class stopped me! ;/

thanks everyone, that’s all i really neede: a nudge.

@invaderzim: I actually plan on doing the same, but over and over I have been told you could pursuit this career change through a different bachelor’s degree, which could be completed sooner (2-3 yrs). This is mainly because you’d be considered a tranfer student.
And of course, most great colleges have strict policies against second BA students.

Since this is also what I want to do, but have never taken into consideration an associate degree as opposed to a second bachelor’s degree, I do have to ask why you consider it to be a better option?

It’s cheaper.

I’ve been posting around the forums researching, and I learned that once you already have a BA, you won’t get any more funding for school (no pell grant).

It’s cheaper to get a side job during the day and pay for college yourself. Some could be as cheap as $88 per credit, meaning around $1080 for a semester.

Why would there be any shame in self-improvement?

Never stop learning, my friend.

good idea… i’ll certainly look it up.
I do no altho not eligible for pell grant you could be recipient of some other grants and scholarships depending on the school you choose. so maybe that’s also sth to look at.

oh…and as to answer your original question: no shame what so ever…kudos to you trying to become a better qualified professional.
