Is this a good extra cirricular?

I’ve been volunteering at my church a lot recently, doing camera work, light shading, assisting the video director (I go to a mega-church (25k members)) and assisting the monitor board. Now with school coming up in the fall, a lot of college kids will drop their volunteering down significantly or resign from their paid part time jobs, opening a hole for me to work part time.

So the question is: is a volunteering opportunity turning into a job opportunity a good extra-cirricular? Would it show colleges anything about me: like my ability to pursue an interest or my ability to handle responsibilities? Do you think I could write a college essay on it?

Write now I’m entering my junior year and I’m pretty weak on ECs. Also, I don’t have any major topics to write about for essays. Any opinions on this topic are appreciated.

I think that’s a good extra-curricular. I don’t know much about college essays yet so I can’t answer your second question. But I think that’s something you should tell colleges.

You don’t have to talk about ECs in your essays. If you have time continue with the EC but don’t turn it into an essay just for the sake of having an essay about ECs…
