Is this a good idea?

I am just creating a BIG TEN FORUM, it’s about the ten schools, anyone is interested to be the moderator?

Yes!! I would :).

Do that many people here have that great an interest in Ohio State, Michigan, Purdue, Northwestern etc?

I think tyrus mean the top 10 boarding schools.

I nominate D’yer for the position…sorry olivia.

I’m not sure I’d want to be a moderator, but I’d probably join. :)

Good, since the Big 10 is actually the Big 11 since Penn State joined.

So we’re gonna have a thread devoted to South Kent, St. Thomas More, Vermont Academy, Tilton, Forman, Portsmouth Abbey, The Gunnery, Hebron, Trinity-Pawling and Cheshire?

Sign Me Up!

what schools is this thread devoted to?

Choate, Deerfield, Hill, Hotchkiss, L’ville, Loomis Chaffee, Peddie, Andover, Exeter, and SPS.

Yah, TSAO…the Ten Schools Something Organization. Including EXETER.

Haha Olivia, our posts crossed.

Did someone say CHOATE?

so the “BIG TEN”, not necessarily the top 10 schools. For example this would be leaving out groton, middlesex, etc,

Truly – Hill is living off its reputation of 15-20 years ago. Peddie - meh.
Groton, Middlesex, and Milton are “better” schools.

Yeah, Big Ten. If I were to name top ten, I think it would be AESDCHLGM (Groton/Middlesex). Plus… NMH I think, because it’s part of the 8 schools Association I think. (of which headmaster of Choate is President).

Whoops, forgot Milton. I meant to put it in, then I saw an M and I thought I’d meant that for both Middle/Milton. :)

perhaps it would be more useful if the forum were the most popular boarding schools, so we would not feel obliged to include schools just because they are part of an admissions organization.

NMH is a VERY interesting place – wouldn’t put it on a list of the “best schools”, but I would look at it in a few years once they adjust to their new size (they have shed 350 odd students in the last two years), they adjust to consolidating the two campuses on the Mt. Hermon site, and they continue their ambitious renovation and new facilities plan.

The forum’s website is http://highschool.mywowbb.com/</a>, I will have a new domain name after one month!

I know NMH doesn’t have the competitive admissions of the others schools, but my son’s best friend attended Andover and another friend of his went to Exeter. Their work loads were quite similar. They were all comparable students in middle school and, let me tell you, NMH kicked my son’s butt! He made it through with a B/B+, but still managed to get into several very nice colleges…wouldn’t have happened from our local public hs with those grades.

i don’t think the cc admins want traffic directed to another site. be careful

keylyme – I respect NMH (read my post) but by the objective standards used to detremine the “best schools” NMH isn’t there.
