Is this "Affirmative Action" at work?

I am a black male senior in high school, and have recently been accepted to Washington University in St Louis, Swarthmore, Johns Hopkins, among other schools. My best friend is a white female, who has been rejected from all these schools, along with Rutgers Engineering and Georgia Tech.
We have similar stats, including GPAs, SATs, and class ranks (she is one position behind me.) As far as extracurricular activities, she has me beat- she’s been the president of the 4H Seeing Eye Dog Thing since freshman year, had a Rutgers bioengineering internship, is the NHS president, etc, and her essays were masterpieces- I’ve read them.

I just don’t know what to think. Any inputs?

MODERATOR’S NOTE:
Closing. A variation of this has been asked many many times, and unless we see the entire application packet and work in admissions at a school, we cannot say. I’m not letting this get into an Affirmative Action discussion, since there is only [one](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/1843141-race-in-college-applications-faq-discussion-12.html#latest) place where affirmative action can be discussed, and this is not it.
