<p>Science Bowl is a government funded competition. The regional near me is also sponsored by a hispanic organization. They require that at least half of our teams be hispanic. Is this legal? I’m not sure if the regional uses government money, but the website says something like “this regional is run by _ (forget the hispanic organization name, long acronym) in partnership with the department of energy”.</p>
<p>Try parent’s forum, and include more details when you do.</p>
<p>If the regional is sponsored solely by private organizations, it probably is legal. But check with the parents.</p>
