I was wondering if UVA was a part of a consortium of universities.
Im from DC and most of the schools here (Georgetown, Howard, catholic, George Washington etc) are a part of a consortium of universities…meaning that if your home school doesnt have or offer a class you need/want you can go to another school in the area and take the class. All while still paying your regular tuition at your home school.

Just wondering if UVA had anything like this.

Thanks :)

I don’t think so; there aren’t other universities nearby, so transportation between campuses wouldn’t really work. It is, however, possible to take courses here and transfer the credit to your home college or university.

Is that where the UVA Summer Session’s come in place? Can ANY students from other colleges/universities take summer courses at UVA? I really wanna do it. But still confused about the whole thing. Is it too late to do it now? Sorry for all the questions, just worried.

There is no consortium here. We are a comprehensive university and while we don’t have every course under the sun, most students have a hard time narrowing down the options at first. It is said that there are 1200-1500 courses offered each year and you only get to pick five at a time. :)

Most schools allow students from other schools to take summer courses.

it kind of depends on your level.

at sufficiently advanced levels, professors are willing to do individualised instruction for very narrow topics … you could even design your own coursework and get it approved (you have to present your plan strongly of course).

well I once overloaded with 23 credits … 8 courses total.

try not to do that your first semester though.
