Medical schools do consider parent income and so he would not be eligible for non interest loans at that point either. I would estimate the loans would total more like 300,000.

I am a huge UVA fan, and my son will attend next year. I know several kids who are attending UVA premed who are receiving an incredible education. But I know kids at University of South Carolina who are premed, in state in the Honors College, and getting an excellent education as well. The cost difference of 35K+ a year is nothing to scoff at.If a student knows that they want premed take the best value school that will prepare you for the MCATs and give you shadowing and research opportunities and bank that difference for med school. Higher education in the medical field is a marathon, not a sprint and interest compounds quickly.
