On the ISSYP 2013 application there are two essays, one objective and the other subjective.

Please list any extracurricular activities, related work experience and hobbies in which you are involved (for example, clubs, athletics, music, student, government, volunteer activities, etc.). Please limit list to activities that have occurred in the last two (2) years. Attach a separate sheet, if necessary.

Please write a short essay (of 500 words or less) discussing the following:
Your interest and general knowledge level in theoretical physics and mathematics;
Relevant courses you have taken in high school, popular science books or articles you have read, extra-curricular activities such as physics or mathematics clubs, science fairs and any other self-directed learning you have undertaken to further your understanding of physics;
Other interests and activities you pursue, outside of physics, that demonstrate breadth of character;
What you hope to learn or gain from attending the ISSYP and your plans for the future, including plans for post-secondary education (e.g. where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years?)

For the first question, should the answer be in the form of an essay, or simply bullet points? Also, should one describe the various clubs, activities, hobbies (i.e. how one pursues them?)? Lastly, if one has a leadership position in the activity, should that be noted?

For the second question, should the “interests and activities” be identical to those mentioned in the first question, just with added explanation?
