I agree about the not caring aspect of it… every time i check my status my heart doesn’t skip a beat anymore lol now its just like “evaluation ok see ya”. Bleh like I feel like I won’t be as pumped if I get in b/c all of the emotion is dying out

me too!
i know they have like a million applicants but it doesn’t take forever to read an application luckily, i guess they would have denied us by now if we weren’t enough for them so who knowsss

True true… i may be getting my hopes up but I feel like we have been considered “accepted” but they wanna see how many more top-notch applicants they get before they make it official. But then again, it’s late and my imagination is running rampant :)

i totally agree, i think i tell myself things like that. i should be getting to bed considering i have to get up at 5:30 for swim practice. but instead, i’m sitting here dwelling over colleges. just lovelyyy

Well, hopefully very soon we can look back at this experience and laugh haha. You should probably get to sleep. I had a free night tonight cause my basketball game was cancelled :)

hahaha i agree! i feel like we know each other (and everyone on this blog) but really don’t at all, it’s kinda funny!

Dont lose heart guys. I wasn’t admitted till April last year. 29 ACT, 3.1 gpa, 50% class rank, OOS. Most of you have higher stats and grades. I really think if you are top 25% of your class rank, you’ll get an admit February/early March.

And don’t forget that they are working through thousands and thousands of applications. I think it just takes time.

Good luck. I love it at Ohio State and think that you will, too.

caolila- thank you!!
i’m glad to hear that you like it so much! you have good advice!

CAHATH
So kind but you better get some sleep too!

If i can help any of you just let me know!

CAHATH i totally agree with that haha it’s cause were all stuck in the same situation that we are finding things in common with each other lol. And caolila, did you apply before the priority deadline or by the February 1st deadline?

I applied the day before cutoff for scholarship consideration, which must have been like December 1st. Anyway, my big dream was to get a Buckeye scholarship but I didn’t :(.
I didn’t take the essay seriously at all (wrote like 4 sentences), and had two failed courses on my transcript. I did have 3 AP that were 5/5/4.

So see, you guys will be just fine.

caolila you give us hope!! Thanks so much lol. What’s your favorite part about tOSU?

I am on the fencing team, and I am crazy about those guys!!! But I also love the anthropology dept and have an incredible adviser, too. Everything you need is so convenient. And most students help each other (not cut throat competition stuff like Ivy). tOSU doesn’t feel as big as it really is, which surprised me. Oh, and the football isn’t bad either…:)

Just a PS - my situation was a bit strange in that I left home so young (15 1/2) and virtually lived by myself. I worked really hard both in sport and school, and I essentially finished HS in 3 years. I had significant regular college credit when I applied and that was a 3.67 average. I am sure that must have helped tip me over the high school issues that came from living and training away from my family.

My first term at OSU was good (B+ avg) and I know I can raise that even more with time.

So keep working hard!

@CAHATH & Kindasortasmart - I can’t say I’m apathetic about it but I’m over the angst. I really want to know what takes them so long ESPECIALLY if their on rolling admissions. Like I said earlier I’m shifting my focus to my #1 choice ![]()
@Caolila - Thank you for making me and I’m sure the rest us on here feel a bit better
I’m glad you are having an awesome time :D

^^^^ i totally agree twobittehz. :)

Yes the admissions process is really unpredictable. I, too, wish I had understood what what going on. It drove me crazy not knowing where I was going, even into April. I was deferred at tOSU and one other place. So, at the last minute I made a local application because I figured I was wait listed everywhere and that was the end for me.

Then, in late April, I got accepted for a summer term start at tOSU. I was going to say no to that (because I was tired and didn’t want to do summer school), when just 7 days later a letter came admitting me for fall! I guess they had people dropping out at the last minute and that opened up a fall spot.

Based on my experience it seems like in the late Spring things happen really quickly as they try to fill the spots, especially after the April 1st notification date for many ivy/psuedo-ivy schools. Even if you are deferred, you shouldn’t give up hope.

As an OWL during orientation I met several girls with ACT’s of 22 and 23. It really made me wonder why I had been deferred so long…

I just checked and it still says Evaluation.

@twobittehz

What four schools did you apply to? If tOSU isn’t your first choice, then don’t drive yourself crazy. What schools have you been accepted to thus far?

I applied to University Of North Carolina At Chapel Hill, North Carolina State University, East Carolina & OSU. I’ve been accepted to East Carolina. I can’t help it I just want to know :)
