i’ve been accepted to East Carolina toooo! :]

@CAHATH Awesome :)!

Let’s face it - universities evacuate during the holidays (my mom teaches at a University), I wouldn’t expect any news until next week at the earliest. Everybody (esp admissions) is likely shut down right now for New Years. I wouldn’t expect anything to change until the middle of next week.

yeah, I remember how hard this was…waiting and waiting and waiting. It’s almost like a self validation getting accepted. But it is better to concentrate on formulating your strategy of acceptances. Decide how long you are willing to wait for the school you really want. Will you wait as long as I did? Are there questions you should be asking during this period? I had an acceptance to Univ of Tenn, but when they told me the anthropology dept didn’t accept their own students for graduate school, I crossed them off the list for undergrad, and reset the wait clock.

Good luck! It is interesting that both of you are accepted to East Carolina. That is a good sign.

Haha, sorry for joining this wonderful conversation so late, but…I’m crazy anxious about this. Like someone said before, I don’t even know why I bother checking my appstatus anymore. It’s just like “Evaluation”…alright. Story of my life. Hahaha. Ahhh it’s driving me insane cause I would KILL to get into OSU. I applied for the Morrill Scholars Program. I’m so anxious to get in. fjieoa;fje. Haha.

Oh and seeing all the stats of all the other people getting in isn’t helping much either…Hahaha.

D was accepted Dec. 3 - App. completed mid-November.

4.3 W/3.9 UW.
ACT: 28
H.S. does not rank
8 Honors courses
2 AP courses - Junior Year - Scores: AP Psych/5 AP Eng/5
APStats and AP Eng. Lit - Senior Year

Major in Psychology and Minor in Dance.

She has received multiple invites to apply for Scholars Program but will probably not do so…

OSU was first choice and only school applied to… whew.

Good luck to all of you…

Well there’s always next week, the week after, and the week after that :)

Congrats MICHELIZ!!! Did your D take the SAT? :)

hi mimi… thank you:) yes, she did take SAT. I honestly don’t remember the exact scores, but I believe they were around 1220 M/R and 1820 or so total? She was more focused on the ACT as she felt better about that score.

Teach me the 2 week acceptance voodoo magic, MICHELIZ. I’m marking off my 10th week now.

We expected the 10-12 week wait as well and can relate to the App Status watch … sure wish I had some magic to share Kudryavka!! While my daughter’s stats are good, I realize they are not significantly better than most on here that are still waiting.

I can say that D was on OSU’s radar early on … she started getting mailings in Feb. 2010, we visited in the spring for a weekend, set up interviews with the Psychology and Dance department chairs, and also sent her AP test scores in July as OSU was top choice. And then she started receiving phone calls throughout the summer and more brochures, emails, etc. She was invited to and attended Honors and Scholars weekend this past November before she even applied (along with approx. 500 other seniors). Perhaps it was that they recognized her strong interest… and that she ‘fits’ the overall profile …

Hang in there :)

it stinks cause this is my top school and ive been accepted everywhere else. im going to try to talk to my admissions counsler

it stinks cause i dont wanna wait till last min to get accepted (if i do) and get bad housing and stuff

That is my feeling too FieldHockey, I don’t want to get second best because I was not accepted until “too late.” I honestly don’t feel like I have bad stats either, my act is a bit low but that shouldn’t be the only thing holding up my acceptance…

if i don’t find out by mid/end of January i am going to be angry :[[

I agree with all of you above me! I’m getting so anxious! Oh well, no news is good news I guess. Haha. And thanks MICHELIZ!
I got a 1920 or so, but it seems that your D has been committed to OSU from the beginning - it makes perfect sense that she’s gotten such an early acceptance! It’s absolutely great, and I’m happy for you! :)

i dont think my stats are that bad either cmmcginn, i just want to find out. I appled over 12 weeks ago and i dont know what to do anymore. I think I am going to call admissions today, i dont really know what to say though.

I didnt include it on my application, but my mom was in the hospital for the past two years, forcing me to step up to the plate and act as the “mother” of the family. I didnt include it because i felt i would get “pity points”, do you think I shouldve included it or i should call and talk to them about it?

At this point I think a phone call wouldn’t hurt at all. I’m sorry to hear about you mother though.

@FieldHockey21

If you have a friend of the family who is a doctor, it might be useful is she or he wrote a note to the admissions dept. If the doctor could describe your personal situation, your mom’s illness and how you demonstrated leadership through that situation, then admissions would have that as a supplemental.

Given the fact that OSU is hard to telephone, I’d use a rec letter by Fed Ex or UPS.
