Its December 1st!

@caolila

We have very similiar stats, I have a 29 ACT, and 3.54 Weighted, so UW is prob quite a bit lower… I’m asuming your 3.1 was UW… I am just very very nervous as I applied November 3 and all of my friends have heard back but me, but hopefully my situation works out like yours did… ugh im so nervous :(

@Ohioeleven

Yes our stats are similar except I think your gpa is actually higher than mine :slight_smile: at the time applied. I think I had 3.0 UW when I applied then raised that to 3.1 by end of 4th year.

I started in a rural school in Midwest for 9th, then went to Bellaire High School Houston, TX for two years (10th 11th). Bellaire is crazy hard (an AP machine- [Bellaire High School (Bellaire, Texas) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Bellaire High School (Texas) - Wikipedia)). I think they sent like a dozen people to Harvard this year. I had horrible grades there trying to compete in sports at the national level and live with a stranger. I was so unhappy there. So, I went back home for my last year, and all the weighted hard coursework was ‘unweighted’ and blended back into the easy environment (the rural high school doesn’t weight). Despite making perfect 5’s in AP exams, I had C-'s in the courses while my friends from home looked great with A’s in stuff like ‘international foods’. I didn’t realize how much this was going to hurt me when I applied to colleges.

I think I was still a last minute pick for OSU because my ACT was strong 29 (30 superscored) and I had demonstrated a good gpa in local college coursework. At least I am guessing that, plus living on my own and earning a sports medal helped OSU overlook the failed courses on my HS transcript and being 50% percentile of the rural school (due to my quirky situation). Honestly, I wish I had taken more time to explain my situation better, too. If there was any piece of advice I’d give it would be to have several people review your application before you send it in.

My guess is you’ll be OK with a 29 ACT, especially if you are 25% or higher class rank and no failed courses or D’s in your coursework. Seems to me that I read OSU is using class rank strongly because it helps normalize across easy versus hard schools.

Good luck everybody. Don’t give up on OSU! It is a great place, full of pride.

Evaluation, still nothing. I already know what they’re going to say…

Just finally reallized that thye count 10-12 weeks from time they receive all of your materials, so that means it in’t 12 weeks yet (will be 12 by friday) so im not freaking out–yet!!

Do you think if my moms counsler/doctor were to write something and we faxed it (told them we were faxing it first), that would work? at this point, im trying to think of everything possible that i could do to add to my application. OSU is my top school and im doubting my chances…

@FieldHockey21

I think a well written note from your mom’s counselor or doctor could be helpful, particularly if she/he can describe how you stepped up (leadership, reliability, maturity), what you were required to do, and the impact that had on your academics (perhaps also your free time).

Why don’t you call OSU today, and ask their advice on how best to send it? My guess is a fax is fine, but I’d also ask the counselor/doctor to send the original via mail (give them an addressed and stamped envelope if necessary). OSU is such a big place the fax might get lost. So, I’d also ask the person writing the letter to include your OSU student application or ID number, if you have one.

Does OSU know they are your #1 choice and that you are coming if they say yes?. If your application doesn’t clearly convey that (does that jump off the page?), then you might also send them a note. It would be ideal if your note could point out some new accomplishments, perhaps something from fall term after you applied. A logical thing would be the change in your grades since your mom has recovered.

Good luck! Lots of people get in off the waitlist after April 1st, so it is really still very early in the process.

I applied November 31 (for the scholarship deadline) and it still says it is being evaluated. It kind of ticks me off because people from my school already got in.

Osu is my safety though. So I probably won’t consider it until I hear back from other schools anyways.

Plus I heard the honors dorms blow. Especially for being honors dorms

i’m starting to get so annoyed ugh…i hate when people ask me where i’m going to school and i have to say IDK because i’ve gotten into all my other/safety schools where i don’t plan on going. i wish i could just hear back from osu by now… :(

It’s okay you will know and it will be the answer you are looking for. The college application process is unbearable, huh?

yes it really is…i just want to be content with where i’m going so i can shift my mind to something else besides worrying where i will get in. mostly, i am regretting not doing well on my SAT’s because that’s the only thing i am lacking, but i know i would never do that well, never been a good standardized test taker! ohwellllll hopefully it won’t hurt me too much :/

I’m sure you’ll get the answer you want. Just don’t stress over it too much because that’s unhealthy. Some of my stats were lacking also but what’s done is done. We all have to know by the end of this month because the next deadline is February 1st. Just hang in there because you are by no means alone… I feel like pulling may hair out too haha lol

Yuup. Im all good now, only thing that bothers me is this person on the Admitted thread has like the exact same stats as me and is from NJ, AND applied a month after me and heard back first. Like seriously, ***. I would be enjoying the Sugar Bowl a lot more if I got in to OSU already…

Lol! I second that :D

ahahha i totally agree. i just watched it, i felt like i was telling myself that i got in…ughhh haha

@caolila
Thanks so much. And i am not sure if they know they are my first choice. As of right now I am taking AP and Honors classes and got all A’s first quarter, I am working hard now that she is better.
I am planning on calling today to see what they suggest doing, and to tell them about the fax, etc. I will do anything!

I know! I was switching the channels from the Sugar Bowl to the OSU vs. Iowa game all night last night, I want so badly to be there!

Everyone asks if I know where I am going to go and I have been accepted to all of my schools except OSU, and I want so badly to say OSU but I have to say “i dont know” because ive heard back everywhere except my dream school! gahh!

my status changed to admitted today!!! I’m so so excited, finally… I applied November 5! Good luck to the rest of you all!

Wow, congrats man! Finally one of us got in. But again, OSU rolling decisions suck haha. Hopefully i’ll hear back today too!

Congrats :D
