<p>I think he means deferred as in re-considered with the regular application pool–as opposed to the accept/reject dichotomy that some schools use (e.g., NYU and Yale, at least in the past). Some of our in-state schools accept a relatively low number of EA applicants but defer some and take a second look with the rest of the applicants, and accept some of the in the spring.</p>
